17: She's not useless (3)

Chi Wen was assigned to watch over the events that was happening in the Imperial Palace, he was sitting on a branch of an old tree and was looking at the whining sister of his Lord's partner and the Crown prince.

His face twitched at the sight of Lu An'yu dramatically draping herself over the bed and was letting out a high pitched cry, he wanted to go there and shut her up but he held himself back for he didn't want to take risks.

He glanced over to the Crown prince and saw that his eyes were full of blind love that he didn't find anything bothering with the childlike attitude that Lu An'yu was showing, the Crown prince must think that this was a cute behavior.

Chi Wen wrinkled his nose at the Crown prince but continued to spy on them.

When he and his Lord was heading back to the Lu estate, his Lord had told him that he would be fine and that he was to observe the actions being made in the Imperial palace and report to him.

As expected, His Lord was right about Lu An'yu making things difficult for Lu Miyan and the Crown Prince still not seeing the dark intentions of his soon-to-be-wife.

Although they were both planning something that would harm Lu Miyan, his Lord specifically told him to not fight anyone and alarm the Crown prince, Xu Min also told him that he would not leave the Crown prince alone for even a second.

By reporting to Xu Min about the things happening in the Imperial palace, he sends his trusty Spirit beast, the blue cheetah, Riri.

He reported everything that happens in the Imperial palace without leaving anything unsaid and commanded his Spirit beast to set off to find Xu Min and deliver the letter that was written in detail.

He stared at the servant and the Crown prince in silence, the servant wasn't even looking at the Crown prince whilst the Crown prince looked uninterested in wasting his breath over the servant but still commanded him.

The servant rushed out of the door after the Crown prince said his piece, Chi Wen contemplated of whether to follow the servant or not but he remembered that his Lord told him to never leave the Crown prince so that made him shrug off the idea of following after the servant.

The Crown prince sat on his bed and began cultivating, Chi Wen boredly watched and even wanted to go over to where the servant was, when the door suddenly opened.

A young man with a handsome figure and face waltzed in, wearing a red robe and fanning his face delicately. He had a dangerous red aura around him as he walked closer to the Crown prince.

The Crown prince was immediately alerted by the door and his eyes turned frosty at the sight of his visitor, but he still did not move to greet the man that seemed to aggravate him.

The young man lightly used his red and white fan to cover half of his face so only his eyes were seen, it intensified the dangerous aura that enveloped him.

"The Crown prince, brother Kang Zhen." The voice of the young man travelled within the vacininity of the soundless room. Even his voice sounded like it would lure you in and it was something that made Chi Wen feel unnerved by.

The Crown prince lifted his face in arrogance and spat out the words. "The Third prince, Kang Li'er."

The Third prince laughed at Kang Zhen and it made him feel like he was being made fun of, it was a feeling he did not like. "I thought you may have forgotten my name."

"I might have if you haven't appeared before me."

Kang Li'er raised an eyebrow and touched his chest to where his heart was. "That's hurtful."

Kang Zhen rolled his eyes at his dramatic brother--he didn't seem a bit amused by him--and asked, "Why are you in my chamber?"

Kang Li'er sat down on the chair at the side of the room and shot back. "Am i not allowed to visit my brother?" He lifted his hand and a maid came running to him, placing a tea cup on the table and filling it with some refreshing hot tea.

Kang Zhen suspiciously squinted his eyes at him and drawled with an undistinguishable tone. "You rarely visit me."

Kang Li'er touched the rim of his teacup and didn't reply for a whole minute, letting the tense atmosphere settle for a bit.

"That's because i'm not always at the Imperial palace." There was something off by the way the Third prince said those words but Chi Wen still could not identify what it was.

"Have you requested for the assistance of the elder of the Medicine sect?" Kang Zhen questioned and gestured his own maid to prepare him some tea for himself. The maid quickly went out to grab Kang Zhen's tea set.

Kang Li'er's eyes turned chillier at the mention of the Medicine sect but his voice still sounded the same in Kang Zhen's ears but Chi Wen has captured the slight difference of his tone.

"No, they said that they cannot treat me."

Kang Zhen gave a hum in acknowledgement of what Kang Li'er said, but then Kang Li'er rested his elbows on the table and placed his chin on his palm casually. His lips were curled up to a sly smirk, making his face more enchanting.

"I heard that you cancelled and redecreed the engagement with the Fifth Miss of the Lu Clan to the Fourth Miss of the Lu Clan." Kang Li'er stated and took a small sip out of his tea cup.

Kang Zhen froze in his actions but regained his senses and nodded in confirmation. "I must say that you are shameless, switching between the two daughters of Lu Juo because you found out that one is not capable of cultivating."

Hearing Kang Li'er guessing his actions within just a small amount of time, he was shocked and even a bit scared at the high IQ that his brother has. He tried to keep a straight face but Kang Li'er had already seen the panic that was displayed in his eyes.

Kang Zhen cleared his throat and wanted to yell out for false accusation of him but he remembered that his father was planning on marrying him off to the princess of the Wei Kingdom.

"Third Prince, why would i do that? That Fifth Miss, Lu Miyan, has done a lot of terrible things and i wouldn't want the Crown princess to be spoiled and also to trample over her family who raised her." His righteous tone had always fooled the citizens but it didn't fool the Third prince as he knew the habit of the Crown prince. When he gets nervous, he blames others and talks a lot more.

Kang Li'er shrugged and finished his tea. "I was only guessing, why are you getting defensive? Also, i am already aware of that what you are saying about the Fifth Miss of the Lu Clan is just rumors that you heard."

"There wouldn't be rumors if she acted decently!" Kang Zhen exclaimed, he was angry about the fact that Kang Li'er was protecting a good-for-nothing woman who's lazy, dumb and disrespectful even to the royals.

Just the thought of Lu Miyan not bowing to him was enough to anger him. Kang Li'er glanced at him and told the maid to clean up the teacup, opened his fan and fluttered it on his face.

"Brother Kang Zhen." He called out and bowed then left, followed by his maid. Kang Zhen was left staring at the door because of the sudden departure of Kang Li'er.

The blue cheetah softly rubbed itself to Chi Wen's body to gain his attention, Chi Wen looked away with the cold glint flashing through his eyes.
