19: Two-faced Xu Min

For the following days, Lu Miyan was busy trying different ways of summoning her Ring Spirit but to her irritation, nothing seemed to work. She even tried to ask her brother about it but he was in no use to her.

She bought herself books from the night market but found not a single information about the Blue Magic Spirit Ring, she also decided to browse (secretly) in the Lu Mansion's library but to no avail.

She was really running out of ideas.

She sighed in exasperation and plopped down on her chair, She read all the books about Magic Spirits but its as if the Blue Magic Spirit doesn't exist at all!

She only found out more information about the Great Emperor of the whole realm, the one who has the most powerful Spirit Ring. There were also a list of guesses of what his power can do but none of which are confirmed since everyone who has seen his might has either been killed or forced to be quiet.

Oddly enough, there was no information about his wife, you would think that this Emperor loved his wife and would want to commemorate her memory and tales but he did the opposite and didn't announce anything about her at all.

Not even how powerful she is.

So that makes things harder for Lu Miyan. Although not a single book recorded of the Great Emperor's wife, she didn't want to give up and is determined on finding any information, no matter how small.

The only thing closest as to the Great Emperor's wife's Spirit Ring is the Spirit Ring of her husband, as said to her by Xu Min.

That's where her first and only clue so she slowly turned her gaze over to where Xu Min was currently at, sitting on a chair with his elbow to the arms of the chair and his chin on his palm.

He was staring at her with amusement clear in his eyes and Lu Miyan had the sudden thought of he's similar to someone looking at a test subject.

"Do you know how to summon my Ring Spirit?"

He tilted his head to the side and made the strande of his black hair fall down to his face, he looked more handsome like a devil shielding his eyes!

"I have read a little bit about it." He began, "I know that Magic Spirits are summoned if their masters are in danger."

Lu Miyan scrunched her eyebrows thoughtfully and wondered out loud, "I wonder." She raised her arms up and let out a yawn because of how tired she is.

From trying to find information about her Spirit Ring, Lu Miyan didn't stop reading books and even sometimes forgot to eat because her head is always stuck on a book that she doesn't notice how much time has passed.

Chi Wei pretended to still be that trusted aid that Lu Zhiyan has apparently sent her and occassionally knock on her door to remind her about eating and to also remind her that she should stop reading for a bit.

Xu Min, left for a bit and ordered Chi Wei to remind Lu Miyan to eat, he only returned from his trip and saw that Lu Miyan was still busy skimming the pages of a book.

He didn't want to disturb her so he didn't call out for her attention but just observed her focused expression, he was having a rather nice view of her confused face.

Lu Miyan asked him, "Where have you been running off to these days?"

That surprised Xu Min because Lu Miyan didn't normally ask him such questions regarding his whereabouts and so he decided to tease her. "Are you missing me?"

Lu Miyan was unfazed by his teasing, she had grown used to his constant remarks. "No, i just need your knowledge." She deadpanned.

". . ."

"Anyway---" Lu Miyan began but was interrupted by the sudden opening of the door and Lu Zhiyan was at the other side.

Lu Zhiyan's expression softened at the sight of his sister but then he noticed someone else was present in the room and he slowly whipped his head over to where Xu Min was, lazily slumped on a chair.

Lu Zhiyan's eyes darkened at the man. "Little Sister, who is this?"

Lu Miyan noticed the sudden change of expression that her brother has, he also noticed the change of atmosphere in the room. "Big Brother, this is my---"

"Spouse." Xu Min interjected with a warm smile hanging off his lips, but Lu Miyan knew that this smile wasn't genuine and was a warning directed to Lu Zhiyan.

Lu Zhiyan, furious, exclaimed. "Spouse?!" He snapped his blazing eyes to the little girl next to him with disbelief swimming in it. "What is the meaning of this, Little Sister?!"

Lu Miyan glared at Xu Min, she was unconcerned about everything aside from clearing the misunderstanding that Xu Min had caused.

She waved her hands frantically at Lu Zhiyan. "He was only kidding, we are just friends and nothing more." She assured him.

Lu Zhiyan squinted his eyes in suspicion at Lu Miyan and he queried.

"Are you sure?"

Lu Miyan nodded in confirmation as Lu Zhiyan let out a breath of relief and casted a disapproving look at his little sister for choosing such a guy that would be shameless enough to announce that she and his sister were together when in reality, they are not.

This kind of man was not the type of person that Lu Zhiyan wants to be with Lu Miyan, if he could, he would keep his Little Sister all to by himself and not allow any opposite gender to even get near her.

He knew that someone would eventually come to his sister's life and become her partner but he was dreading that day and would want to go to any possible lenghts in delaying it.

But, of course, he can't do that to his sister and he doesn't have the heart to do so because Lu Miyan's happiness is his priority and even if it means someone was going to take his precious little sister away from him, if she's contented then he could only watch.

Lu Zhiyan left after discussing the terms and rules of courting his sister and thankfully, after a short while, he was persuaded to leave the room.

He was persistent on staying to apparently keep a watch on Xu Min and how he behaves around Lu Miyan but, Lu Miyan insisted on him leaving and even pushed him out of the door, much to Lu Zhiyan's dismay.

Lu Miyan breathed out when Lu Zhiyan was gone in the room and she glanced at Xu Min before not even saying anything to him.

That made Xu Min worried because Lu Miyan was actually getting mad at him, it was one thing that he didn't like and now his reckless actions turned back time to when Lu Miyan was cautious around him but now it was even worse!

She wasn't even mentioning him as if he didn't exist at all.

He stood up from his seat and hugged Lu Miyan from behind, Lu Miyan froze at the sudden contact but forced herself to keep ignoring him. She wasted her energy over trying to reassure her brother that she and Xu Min were only friends.

Because her energy has depleted, she can't cultivate and because she can't cultivate, she can't help herself to reach the second stage of the red level.
