"Man, I wish it would snow!"
Hau, Moon, Lillie, and Gladion sat in Moon's house, waiting for the clock to strike twelve. It was Christmas Eve and everyone, including Gladion in his own way, was excited. Hau sighed.
"Christmas songs always have snow in it. I've never experienced snow!" He whined. Moon stared at him. "What?"
"The Pokemon League is on a mountain. That has snow."
"Haha right! Then I wished it would snow now!"
"Right now, I wished I can go to sleep," Gladion muttered. Lillie giggled.
"We're on the equator of the world. It would never snow here."
"One could wish," Hau said wistfully.
"Christmas is more than just being about snow. Look around us! We have our friends-," here, Gladion snorted. Moon ignored him and continued. "and we have our Pokemon with us! We should just appreciate a moment of a good, quality-"
"MEME!" Hau interrupted. Moon sighed, giving up. She was going to say time together. But a meme wouldn't hurt. "We should appreciate a good, quality meme together. Did you see that one vine about-"
"Probably," they all said. Just then, Gardevoir and Raichu walked in holding a pan of gingerbread and cookies. Moon perked upat the sight of the Psychic Pokemon.
"I know! Let's all build a gingerbread house and decorate cookies! We got an hour to waste before Christmas Day, so let's spend it having fun!" Hau and Lillie lit up while Gladion just sunk into his seat.
Suddenly, Gladion sat up straight. The others looked at the black clothed man, who was grinning in a devilish manner. "Let's play a game." Uh oh. Moon glanced at Lillie and Hau. A Gladion game is not a good game. "The best cookie decorated gets to have immunity to the game we can play afterwards. The losers have to go skinny dipping."
"SKINNY DIPPING?" they all shouted. Gladion nodded. He stood up, rolled his sleeves, and fixed his hair. "And the game starts now."
The four got to work. Hau grabbed a malasada shaped cookie and decided to put dump it with glitter. "The shinier it is, the better, right?"
Gladion, the challenger, had a Sylvally shaped cookie and tried to ice it exactly like his partner. "Buddy, you better be good. Cuz I ain't going out there naked." His Sylvally cocked his head.
Lillie had an Alolan Ninetails shaped cookie and decorated it with wintery colors. She added glitter for highlights. "Snowy is going to look so cute!"
Moon expertly took out her icing tools. How dare Gladion challenge her, a baking connoisseur, to an icing battle! I'll make as many cookies before midnight! Watch me Gladion! She grabbed a Primarina cookie. Taking a small bag, she outlined the cookie the blue icing. She filled it in with light blue icing, using a metal stick to fill out any gaps. She then used a darker shade of blue to add shadows and a lighter shade of blue for highlights. She used different shades to make it as 3-D looking as possible.
The four worked hard into the night, decorating as many cookies as possible. Gardevoir kept watch over the time. 15 minutes before midnight, she used her psychic powers to lift the cookies. "Gardevoir!"
The contestants looked at their masterpieces. Each had 4 cookies finished. Lillie put her hands on her hips, thinking. "Who will be the judge?"
"I WILL!" a voice boomed.
"What?" "Nani?"
Kukui barged in. "Alola! Heyo kiddos!"
"Alola Professor!"
"I heard that there was a competition going on. Good for you! Now let's judge these cookies!"
Kukui walked over to the counter, where Gardevoir carefully laid out each cookie in order of the contestants. He first went to the far left, which happened to be Hau's. Four glitter bombed cookies were layed out in all of its sparkly glory. "Hau! Look at all of these colors! These glitters just steals all the appeals of the other cookies!"
Hau grinned sheepishly. Moon frowned. Maybe I should put more glitter on my cookies.
"Next! Is Mr. Gladion! Let's look at his cookies." Kukui looked over the cookies. "It's very... Plain."
"Plain!?!?" Gladion growled.
"Yes plain. It's all one color. No glitter at all. Your Sylvally is grey. Your Crowbat is purple. Umbreon, Black. Lycanroc, Red. Where are all the fancy?"
"Simplicity is the finest form of art," Gladion declared. Lillie hugged her brother.
"I think it's lovely. There are modern works of art in museums that have just one color and many people define it as a form of art."
Gladion huffed. "Let's look at yours Lillie."
"A-ah! I-I made m-my dear Pokemon Snowy! And I made Hau's Raichu, Gladion's Sylvally, and Moon's Gardevoir!"
A small light seem to attract the attention of the contestants and the judge. "It's quite pleasing to the eye! All of the colors are of each Pokemon'a highlighting features and contain different shades of it as well! The glitter was a nice touch of luminosity."
"Th-thank you Professor."
"How about Mo-wooow!"
"What about Moon?" the other three looked over Kukui shoulders. There sat four cookies, looking looking like a snack (pun intended.)
"Th-they look exactly like a Pokemon!" Lillie gasped. Moon grinned at their dumbfounded faces.
"You even added candy for a bas relief cookie! It's so professionally made!"
"I-i think I know who won this challenge," Kukui gaped at the cookies.
"Yes! I don't have to go skinny dipping!" Moon exclaimed, jumping up and down in celebration.
"Skinny dipping?" Kukui shook his head. Who knows what kids are up to these days. "No no no. Instead, how about let's just give out presents! We have 5 minutes until Christmas Day! Let's celebrate as friends and not rivals."
"Yeah!"
Aww... I wanted to see Gladion.
On Christmas Day, presents and gifts were given out. Kukui got a completed Pokédex and TMs. Lillie got some clothes, a new PokeDoll, and a new pen to write down her observations. Hau got malasadas and Gladion got a black cloak, a keychain with Sylvally, and a skateboard that he always wanted. Moon got new clothes, a Mega Stone for her Lucario, roller skates, and the newest Jordan sneaker.
Gladion leaned against a wall, watching Lillie and Hau munch on his new malasadas near the fireplace. Kukui left, wanting to spend Christmas with his wife. "Ne~, what are you doing over here?"
Gladion glances over to see a Moon looking at him. "I like to stay in background. Just watching Lillie be happy gives me enough joy for the holidays."
Moon smiled and watched the couple by the fireplace with Gladion. "Gladion, underneath all of your emo clothes, you're a good person at heart."
"Moon, underneath all of your bubbly personality, you're a devil."
"I know."
Moon looked up at Gladion's face. His blonde hair fell forwards, covering half of his face. She reached up at ticked the loose strands behind his ears. When she did that, she noticed a small plant that hung above them. She smiled and tiptoed to close the space between them. "Merry Christmas Gladion," she said right before they kissed.
Hau and Lillie watched from afar. "Y'know, I think they're really cute."
"I know right? I have a whole shipping shrine and a half just for those two." Lillie whispered. Hau glanced at her excited face before laughing. He pecked her lips. "Merry Christmas Lillie."
