9 years later

"Hey, Gladion?"

"Yes, sweetie?"

"Where are we?"

"It's a secret."

Moon pouted. Two hours ago (Moon's not sure), Gladion placed a blindfold around Moon's eyes. Next thing Moon knew, they were riding in a car (at least she thinks it's a car) for the past hour. Then they boarded a boat. The familiar lull of the waves rocked Moon back and forth.

And here they are, Moon, still blindfolded, and Gladion, still a pain in the left butt cheek, sailing into the unknown.

"Are we there yet?" Moon asked for the umpteenth time. Gladion chuckled.

"Almost there, sweetheart. Just a few more minutes.

Moon played with her hair nervously. It's so hard not to be able to see!

Something trailed up and down her arm. Moon shivered at the feeling. It then started to trace shapes along her palm. "Gladion?"

"Yes?"

"Are we there yet?"

Gladion chuckled again before ruffling her hair. Moon scoffed at him before trying to fix her hair back. "We're here."

Moon jumped up quickly. "Then let me take it off!"

"No," Gladion's alpha voice sent tingling feelings down her back. She pouted, but Moon held on to his arm. Cries of Pokemon echoed around them as they walked. Moon started to sing. Ever since Ruby came over to visit, Moon has become obsessed with Pokemon Contests. She hosts Alola's annual Pokemon Contest in Ula' Ula Island.

Gladion recognized the tune as one of her most popular performances. It was a lullaby, sung by mothers to their kids. He began to hum along. Arceus knows that he can't sing for shit.

You are my sunshine,

My only sunshine.

You make me happy

When skies are grey.

You'll never know, dear,

How much I love you.

Please don't take

My Sunshine away.

It was quiet. Moon's singing had silenced the Pokemon. It was as if they were too enchanted by her song. Gladion bent down to whisper into her ears, "We're here."

Very dramatically, he slowly whipped off the blindfold. Moon blinked for a hot minute. When her vision cleared, she saw Route 5 staring right back. Wild Pokemon has come out to look at the two trainers. After all, they often travel to this spot just to relive memories.

"Hey, isn't this the place where I first met you?" Moon joked around. A rustle of clothing answered back. Moon's eyebrows furrowed. Why is he not answering?

Moon turned around and gasped at the sight. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she choked out a laugh. She was so Arecues-damned happy. Why?

Gladion knelt on the ground, looking up at her with adoring eyes. In his hands was an open, wooden box with a velvet cushion in the middle. On that cushion was a ring. It was the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. It was a silver ring. The thick band of silver was engraved with flowers and the moon. In the middle was her favorite gemstone, the moonstone. Moon's hands flew to her mouth in an attempt to quiet her joyful sobs.

"Yes!" she managed to choke out. Gladion chuckled.

"I haven't even said anything yet."

"Then hurry up!"

"Moon, my goddess, the love of my life. Here, on Route 5 was where we had our first battle. Our first meeting. Our first heartbeat together. From that day on, I couldn't take my eyes off of you. Your smile shone brightly, and your hands guided my path. You were beautiful, and I couldn't have you. You were my enemy as a member of Team Skull, is what I thought. But your actions to members of Team Skull said otherwise.

"I knew I loved you when you fought with me in Aether Paradise. Your eyes were entirely focused on the battle. They twinkled with fierce delight. To be honest, that was a turn on."

Moon laughed as tears freely fell down her face. Gladion smiled as her tinkling laugh rang out.

"When I left for Kanto for a couple of years, I was heartbroken. No. Not heartbroken. Homesick. Not for Aether Foundation, but for your smile. I was heartbroken when Silveon died. Your eyes were dead, full of sadness. And I knew I had to bring you back. I knew that I had to see your smile once again. And I did didn't I?"

Moon nodded frantically.

"Moon, you made me who I am. I'm no longer that emo boy from our childhood. I'm now your emo man." Moon laughed again. "Moon, my life got so much brighter with you around. I smiled, I laughed, and Arceus, I loved. I love you, Moon Tsuki. Please become my one and only. Please become my Moon. Please, I beg of you, marry me. So Moon, goddess, sweetheart, will you marry me?"

Moon's knees buckled. She fell to the ground, crying out in happiness. "Yes. Yes!"

Gladion almost dropped the ring. He was too in a hurry to see if Moon was okay. "Moon, did you just fall for me?"

Moon hit him weakly. "B-Baka!"

Gladion's smirk disappeared as Moon kissed him. She pulled back and hugged him. "I will marry you, Gladion, my knight in shining armor. I will marry you."

Moon cupped Gladion's face and stared into his beautiful eyes. The broken boy in the past has grown up so much. He was stronger, braver. He was hers.

Moon and Gladion married a year later. Soon enough, their first child was born. He was named Ibuningu, a reminder of what they represent. Ibuningu was the evening when the Moon and the Night became one. Moon gave him an Eevee and a Kantonian Ninetails when he was old enough. Gladion gave him a Sneasel.

Lily and Hau married not long after they did. They had twins named Hala and Lucy. Ibuningu and the twins took on the island trials but failed to beat Moon for the championship. Lucy wanted to do Pokemon Contests and learned from the current Alolan Queen, Moon.

Here, Gladion and Moon's story comes to an end. Instead, a new story has arisen, one filled with love and Pokemon. Gladion and Moon knew that if they looked back, they would see a boy and a girl, battling with all their might, and enjoying the thrill of Pokemon battles.
