Custos' pov:
I sweat dropped at Amata being all too dramatic, laying across the ground on her stomach and swearing her spine was broken and would never be able to walk again, it was your idea so doesn't go being dramatic.
To resume the travel, it wasn't much of anything, though Fortis did almost fall asleep and slip off once that's all that was interesting in the whole ride, I gotta say her fur is really soft and she is fast, I spent most of the time in my thoughts since no one really talked or looking at the red balls floating around us in a calm and beautiful manner... In a way difficult to explain... I'd say they moved in an orderly chaos, she made them vanish after a while when we got near the town and shifted back at the gates.
The town was pretty, made of dark wood and black stone but had those patches of color, the construction of the houses being much different than the vampire town we were in for the war, these houses were not too large but reached far up and add literal bridges between them. the inn we were staying at was the building that was the largest but also really tall, like my and Amata's room was on the fifth floor so it was quite high, enough to see over most buildings and see a big part of town... Not to say this wasn't even the tallest part of this building, Aura had her own room right next to Fortis' the level underneath ours, me and Amata only were together because well we are together.
I was sitting on the window sill as a soft breeze blew by, the sky painted reddish orange as the sun set in the distance behind the horizon, a few clouds drifting with the breeze oh so far up, it was all so calming... It was calming even more after the dragons fell asleep and stopped chirping and whistling, it is cute but too much of something cute can be a bother. what was even more calming I'd say was that I knew we wouldn't be running off any second or take off in the morning, no we would stay here and relax... Even the idea of relaxing was relaxing so yeah.
"Are you fine now?" I asked as I looked at her as she stood right by me and looked out the window too, I heard her get up and walk over but did nothing before speaking to acknowledge it happening.
"Yeah I guess." I smiled as she laid her chin on my shoulder, her eyes closed, in a way her nose was against my neck and her breath tickled it but not enough to bother me.
"That's good." I passed a hand on her head, pulling out the tie and messing up her hair before slowly undoing her braids, all with somehow only using one hand, she smiled as she let me do so. I still could sometimes find myself doubting for a second she was really mine and that this was a dream before rolling my eyes and realizing how stupid those thoughts were but it seemed so out of this world and well... She was out of this world.
"Hey Custos?" I hummed as she opened her eyes and tilted her head up a bit. "I gotta tell you about something, I wanted to put it off for a while but I do realize the sooner the better." That was a worrying statement to say the least.
"What is it?" I asked.
"You see when I went to pay a visit to my mother I got an answer to a few of my questions while also learned things about myself, like I can't be poisoned but that's the least impressive one I'd say... You know how elves live forever? I'm destined to live longer than them without ageing in looks much more then I already am." I looked at her with an unreadable expression, longer than any elf... But would make my life meaningless in the long run and only bring pain to her as I will once grow old and die, a bit grim but the truth and it made my heart clench painfully. "I asked her for a favor she'd grant me."
"And what is it?" I was a bit sad but wanted to hear it, maybe it was a less shocking news.
"I asked her to let the person my heart choose live as long as I do without changing how they are right now." Okay no that is as shocking if not more shocking then the news of her longer then eternal life.
"What?" I couldn't wrap my head around it.
"That means unless you are killed you will live as long as I do... But it also means if I die for some reason you will perish with me, I sealed your life to mine because I wasn't clear in my wish and I believe she granted it literally." She seemed sad about this. I put a hand on her cheek and pulled her head up from my shoulder enough to be able to lean down and kiss her. it was short but still sweet, I smiled softly as she did after pulling away, I could get used to this really easily.
"It's far more than I could have asked for, I'd die for you anytime but I wouldn't want to live if it meant being without you, I might not really grasp what this gift from the goddess means right now as I lived only for the time I did and I can assume without a doubt it's partially the same for you but I can say I'd never ever wish for a better gift from her part." I smiled as she hugged me and laid her head on my chest as I passed my hand through her hair, both of us staying like that for a while.
"Hey come on." I raised an eyebrow. "I wanna look around the town, I saw some places I'd like to have a look at and saw crystals all around the place so lighting should be pretty."
"Alright if you wish." I said since there was no rush, we could afford to relax. I smiled as I got down and gathered my stuff, this will by more fun then I first thought.
