"Please Doctor!" Said Vi over the phone.

"I travelled with you to a far off a planet, the least you can do is come to a social event!" She continued.

"Vi, Vi Vi, I don't know how to be social!" I said as I fixed the bottom of the TARDIS.

"All you do is say nice things, make small talk, eat food and not say anything... sciencey!" She exclaimed.

"And who would be coming?" I asked with the Sonic in my mouth.

"My parents." answered

"Mr and Mrs Hammond!? The Hammonds! Oh that'll be fun!" I said

She laughed and said "Can we go somewhere afterwards?"

"Of course. When do I need to be there?"

"Now...?" She said.

"Cutting it short Vi! Luckily for you, I'm a Time Lord! Meet me in the field in two." I hung up and went to the main part of the Tardis and headed to Vi's

I hate social events.

I'm not a social person.

A few moments later, I opened the door and saw Vi running towards me. "Hey stranger." She said. "If I make a fool out of myself, I told you so." I smiled. She nudged me and we headed on to her place.

"Violet!" Mrs Hammond came through the door and kissed her daughter's cheek.

"Hello, sweetheart." Her dad came in a few seconds behind and gave her a hug.

Both of the Hammonds stood and looked at me.

Oh God, here we go.

"Violet? Is this your boyfriend?" Her mother asked, almost excited.

Oh No.

"Who is this man!?" Her father demanded.

"Mom, Dad, this is the Doctor." She introduced.

"A friend." Violet continued.

"Doctor what?" Her father asked.

Well that's a first.

"John Smith." I shook their hands.

An alias that I use occasionally.

Violet seemed to relax and we continued to her dining table,

After long conversations and painfully bad jokes, the social event was over.

No fish fingers and custard were served.

That's just wrong.

"Okay, bye mom, see you dad." Violet kissed their cheeks and her mother called out "By John!"

"Bye Elaine!" I called back.

Vi shut the door and waited a moment until her parents were definitely gone.

"John Smith?" She laughed.

"A name I occasionally use. Come on! I've been gone from the TARDIS for too long. Grab a coat." I smiled as I  put on mine.

As we left, it was late afternoon, but when you're a timelord, time doesn't matter.

"Where to today?" I asked her as we entered.

"Can we go somewhere in the past?" she asked.

"Of course! The TARDIS can decide where!" I pulled the lever and we turned and whirled around in space and time.
