I tried to relax.
I came closer and closer. I fell through branches; scratching my face. I made no connection to how close I was to the ground. In a split second, my face hit solid rock and slipped away to unconciousness.
I resurfaced to consciousness, and my head was pounding. My calf was throbbing, and I struggled to push myself up.
It was bleeding; quite badly. I grimaced, and pulled my leg closer to me.
"Ouch," I groaned. "Aghhhh..."
When I took a breath, it hurt. I probably bruised my ribcage, or broke a couple ribs. Where my calf was bleeding, my pants had a small rip. Blood seeped through the loose fabric. I grabbed ahold of a tree's broken limb, and pulled myself up. I could hear my heart pumping in my ears.
Slowly, I limped to a creek, and eased my leg in. My leg felt like it was on fire. I grimaced, and wanted to punch something. I picked up a rock, and threw it as far as I could. I heard a satisfying clunk from it hitting another rock. After my leg felt a little better, I stood up. I needed to find help. And fast.
I remembered that I had seen campfire smoke as I was falling from the sky. I walked in the direction where I thought the smoke was coming from. After about 10 minutes of walking, my breathing became raspy.
I stumbled apon a small clearing, littered with bodies. Woah. Deja vu. I have seen those things before. My dream! Those were the goblin things! It smelled like death, and decomposing bodies.
"Oh god," I gagged. I stepped onto a dead guy's hand, and let out a yell. I wanted to get out of the stinking death pocket. I hobbled as fast as I could go to get away from the bodies.
In the distance, I heard the pounding of horse hooves, and froze. I glanced around. The goblins? I started to breathe rapidly. My leg was bleeding still, and leaving drops of blood on plants and rocks.
I looked around, and saw trees. Maybe I could climb one! I hobbled to the closest one, and started to climb. I climbed as far as I could. The pounding came closer, and it sounded like a horse cantering. I tried to calm my breathing down so I could be as silent as I could, but my heart was beating so fast!
The horse, or whatever it was, slowed to a walk. It came closer and closer. Until it stopped right underneath the tree I was hiding in. A man was on the horse, and he seemed to being looking at the ground. He saw my blood the had dripped out of my leg on a fallen leaf. The man dismounted his horse, and looked up. I froze. A drop of blood from my leg landed on his shoulder.
My eyes widened, and my heart was beating super fast. Oh man. He's attractive. Heh, no wonder my heart is beating- Wait! Maybe he's on the goblin's side- A voice interrupted my thoughts."You might as well come down. I won't hurt you," the man said, and wiped my blood off of his shoulder.
I debated if I should go down. I didn't know if I could trust him. I looked back down at him. He smiled lightly, and held up his hand. I decided it was safe. I climbed down, careful not to jostle my injured leg. When I got to the lowest branch, he offered me his hand. I took it, gently lowering myself to the ground.
He looked at my leg, "You are injured. Who- who are you?" He looked at me in curiousity.
I looked him in his eyes, "My name is Alex. I have no idea where I am right now, so if you could kindly tell me-"
He interrupted me, "Your leg is more important at the moment, Lady Alex."
I frowned, "Lady Alex?"
