"I hope you know I'm crashing as soon as we get back to your place!"

Adrienne looked up from her kindle to see Ben coming towards her. He hadn't given her a specific time frame for his flights arrival, so she was relieved to see him after only 30 minutes at the airport. Shutting the device off and stuffing it back in her purse, she stood up to greet him.

"Well that's a shame! Dinner's waiting at home." Adrienne smiled brightly and accepted the bone crushing hug coming for her. Her arms snaked around his waist and she pressed her cheek to his chest as Ben wrapped his arms
around her shoulders, hugging her tightly.

"So good to see you." He pressed his face into her hair as Adrienne tried to match his strength by hugging him tighter, but failed.

"I missed you too."

"It'll just be us tonight." Adrienne explained as she keyed into her apartment. "Elias is with his grandparents until tomorrow."

"He see them a lot?"

"Quite often. Almost every other weekend. I know they want to be involved since it's just the two of them now." She opened the door for Ben and he immediately went for his spot on the couch, and instead of sitting down like a guest would, Ben fell down face first into a pillow, and let his duffel bag fall on the floor next to the couch. Adrienne opened her mouth to say something but the only thing that came out of her mouth was a laugh. "I.... okay. You good?"

Ben answered with a grunt and a thumbs up.

"Yeah okay." Adrienne kicked off her shoes and set them by the front door, heading straight for the kitchen, specifically the refrigerator.

"You want anything to drink?" Adrienne called from the kitchen, both hands on the refrigerator door handles.

"A gin and tonic."

Adrienne's arms dropped to her sides and her shoulders slumped in slight distress for her friend. "I'm not giving you alcohol unless you eat."

Ben shifted so his face wasn't buried in the pillow. "I'm pretty sure I had at least a liter of water today."

"That is NOT what I just said." Adrienne put her hands on her hips, laughing in disbelief. "Quit being dramatic and come eat."

She snorted as she heard him groan and stand up from the couch. When Adrienne knew Ben was sauntering over to the kitchen, she pulled out the bowl of pasta salad she had made from the refrigerator and set it on the countertop.

"I'm not dramatic, I'm tired." Ben slumped against the counter, watching Adrienne intently

"Maybe cause you took the time to come see me for a solid 12 hours before you have to fly off again. And you're being dramatic." She turned away to gather bowls and silverware for the kitchen table. She thought her pasta salad was safe, but she heard a not-so-subtle crunch of a cucumber.
