"Mommy?"

"Yes, baby?"

"Is Ben coming today?"

Adrienne hesitated as she put dinner in the oven. "I think so. Are you excited to see him again?"

She heard the pitter-patter of feet in the kitchen and a thump on the ground. Setting the timer before turning around, she saw that Elias had brought her acoustic guitar into the kitchen. Raising an eyebrow, she smiled as Elias tried to handle the instrument that was clearly too tall for him to try. "Play the ready Freddie song."

"The what?" She took the guitar from him as he zoomed out the kitchen and climbed up to the couch. The realization hit her like a lightbulb, and she remembered the only song he could possibly be talking about was 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'.

"If you insist, then. But you have to sing along with me!"

Making sure the oven was correctly set and timed one more time, Adrienne brought her guitar into the living room where Elias was patiently excited for a sing song session. She sat down next to him on the sectional, strumming the guitar once and finding the right chords to start.

"Are you ready?" Adrienne eyed Elias, who jumped up and down excitedly.

Adrienne strummed the intro, the chords coming back to her one by one naturally. She never thought of herself as a great singer, but Elias loved to sing with her.

"This thing called love, I just can't handle it
This thing called love, I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love."

"Your turn!" Adrienne beamed at Elias.

"This thing," Adrienne nudged Elias.

"This thing!"

"Called love!"

"Called love!"

"It cries!"

"LIKE A BABY!"

They were cut off with a knock at the door. Adrienne and Elias looked at each other curiously, before Elias concluded.

"It's Ben."

"Do you want to go get the door?" Adrienne set the guitar down and stood up. Elias shook his head no very frantically, which confused her. Adrienne picked him up and kissed his check. "What's the matter?"

Elias said nothing as Adrienne rushed to the door so she wouldn't leave Ben hanging. She undid the deadbolt and turned the doorknob to swing the door wide open, and she was almost caught off guard by the sight of Ben with flowers and a poorly wrapped gift bag along with his luggage.

"Oh my..." Adrienne was almost breathless. "Come in!"

"Hey guys." Ben wandered his way through the door and Adrienne locked it behind him. Ben set his bag down and turned around to face Adrienne and Elias, flowers and present still in his hands. "These are an apology for Monday at the airport."
