Emmas POV:

"He's tying so hard he seems really desperate. What if he really does like you Emma?" Ariel's voice came from beside me while I grabbed the books I needed for the weekend and stuffed them in my backpack.

It had been a week since I have spoken to Tyler and he had tried non stop to gain my attention every.single.day. Not one day passed where he didn't call or text me trying to get me to rethink my decision. And that wasn't all, at school he would sometimes pass me notes during class, but before I even had the chance to read them Lena would reach over her desk to mine, grab the note, crumple it up and toss it in the trash can at the end of class. To which I had no problem with her doing that. I knew she was looking out for me and I loved her for it.

It was Friday afternoon and school was being let out. I was just grabbing the thing I needed to do any weekend homework before Ariel, Lena and I took off to walk home together. Nothing out of the ordinary for us.

I rolled my eyes and before I even got the chance to respond to Ariel's comment, Lena did it for me. "Yes Ari, he's desperate to get into her pants."

I looked from Lena to Ariel whose expression was sympathetic. I shook my head "Lena's right, I mean how many girls have we seen him with so far just this year? I refuse to be used and thrown out like a cheap hooker."

"Or in other words, Crystal." Lena smirked while Ariel and I tried to hold back a laugh but to no avail.

I slammed my locker shut and began making my way to the front doors of the school, with Lena and Ariel walking on either side of me.

Continuing the conversation Ariel piped up again "But, you have to admit ever since you started tutoring him he hasn't been seen with another girl..."

Nobody said anything, what Ariel said actually stumped us.

"Coincidence? I think not." She finished canceling out our silence

"No other girl, that we know of!" Lena exclaimed with an accusing expression

And there it was, the loop hole, the silver lining, the bit of doubt that we needed to make Ariel's statement false. I just simply rolled my eyes, this conversation was getting way out of line. Tyler was supposed to mean nothing to me, he wasn't even supposed to be my friend. The only relationship we were supposed to have when this first started was tutor and student and now...I sighed inwardly, now I feel like we were in this pathetic and invisible lovers quarrel. He wasn't mine, he would never be mine and I had to come to terms with that. Not that I cared. I can't have a boy like him in my life. He plays too much with girls minds and hearts and nobody can trust one word that comes from his mouth...

So why was I so close to trusting him?

What made me suddenly let my guard down for him?

'You like him Emma...' my conscience piped up.

"Speak of the devil..." Lena mumbles cutting me from my thoughts.

I looked over at Lena and followed her line of sight. She gave a slight nod towards the front of us and there he was. Tyler was sitting on his bike with a helmet in his hand while Brand and Chris leaned against it. They seemed deep in conversation about something but when Tyler's eyes met mine, his lips stopped moving and both the boys turned my way. A smirk playing on Brads lips and a somewhat saddened expression on Chris' face.

Chris' saddened expression made me wonder what was going through his mind...Was he feeling pity for me?

I sighed and tore my gaze away from his beautiful hazel orbs.
