Cont'd

Sarah shoved me into the back seat with her before I could even try and get in the passenger side.

"Ok what the fuck is up with you and Tom?" She whispered.

I frowned.

"What?"

Sarah rolled her eyes.

"Come on. You're totally flirting with him. I mean do you...like him? You were always so mean to him. How did this even happen?!"

My heart raced. Oh God.

"Ew gross no way. Sarah I told you I don't like anyone. Not my thing. I mean I guess he's sort of attractive but that's all."

Sarah's mouth opened and she concealed a giggle behind her hand.

"No way! I never thought you'd give him a chance. Just promise you won't do what you normally do with guys with him."

I frowned.

"What's that?"

"Hump and dump." She said matter of factly.

I let out a shocked laugh. But she had a point. That was all I ever did or wanted to do with any guy I'd been with before. I had 5 rules about who I got with too. The rules were simple:

1) No creeps.
2) No band boys.
3) No nice guys.
4) Never spend the night.
5) Never sleep with the same guy twice.

Tom already broke rules 2 and 3. So he was strictly off limits. He was a band boy and he was a nice guy. And even although he'd had his fair share of one night stands, from what I'd heard, he was a snuggle them after, make them breakfast the next morning kind of guy. I could tell. And even then he'd probably only did that a few times. Tom liked to go steady. He either had a girlfriend or he was single. He didn't sleep around much. He wasn't anything like other boys I'd wanted to sleep with before and that was bad.

He was off limits. It would be completely stupid to pursue this but that didn't mean I couldn't still think about it. Why couldn't I get with Tom?

"Why not?" I asked.

Sarah pouted and glanced at the back of Tom's blissfully unaware bleached head sympathetically.

"Because that isn't fair. You know he likes you. And he deserves better than that. He's one of the good ones Molly. Don't hurt him."

I frowned.

"How do you know he likes me?" I whispered.

Sarah bit her lip and swept her long dark hair over her shoulder.

"Promise you won't tell him I told you this ok? But he told me one night he was drunk at one of his parties. You must see the way he looks at you? He worships the ground you walk on and you treat him...well the way you do. Poor guy. You really don't know why he's really doing all of this for us?"

My frown deepened and I shook my head.

I couldn't believe Tom had liked me for so long and hadn't said a word to me. Why? Why did he even like me? I was a horrible person. Sarah was right. He deserved better.

"He's doing all of this for you. Because he's crazy about you. And has been for a year."

I gasped. My heart was pounding. No way. He wouldn't be doing all of this for me...would he? No one did anything for me. I didn't like that. I didn't like feeling like I owed anyone anything.

"What are you two whispering about?" Said Dani as she turned around in her seat and gave us both a narrow eyed suspicious gaze.

"Mark Hoppus. And how much of a total dreamboat he is. That's all girls ever whisper about." I mocked.
