Kanade sighed gently, glancing at her hair which had been done in two twin pigtails. She frowned, staring at the window of the tower.
Her and her twin sister had finally turned sixteen, so that meant they both had to find a prince to marry so one of them could become queen.
They had been ruling together after their parents had been murdered by a thief. Kanade balled a small fist, before turning when she heard a knock on her door.
" Yes...?" she mumbled out, straightening her posture so she wouldn't be scolded by a maid.
Hibiki walked into the room, smiling happily and humming as she walked over to her twin sister.
" Aren't you excited? Today's the day of the ball!" Hibiki grinned, tilting her head slightly.
" Oh I'm ecstatic," Kanade sighed," can't wait to meet a stranger and marry them."
Hibiki sighed as well," I'm sorry this has to happen like this-"
" It's not your fault our parents were murdered, it's whoever did it..." the older twin frowned, glancing away and shaking her head.
" The balls about to start in two hours...so we have to start getting ready in at least a few minutes." and with that, Hibiki left the room.
Kanade sighed before letting out a frustrated scream and tugging at her purple and pink hair.

The ball was a complete failure, and that's why Kanade was sitting on a tree stump in the forest, trying to avoid everyone. She sighed, slowly getting up and pulling her cloak hood over her head.
Might as well head back-
Her thoughts were cut off when she heard footsteps behind her. She whipped around, noticing a male with colorful hair. It was green, and orange, and even small bits of yellow.
" Sorry to startle you miss, I was just heading home," the male said, flashing a quick smile.
Kanade only sighed, watching as the male began walking away once more. She sighed again, beginning to follow after him.
" Is it alright if I join you?" she asked, shifting her cloaks hood a small bit. The other seemed a bit confused before he nodded.
" If it makes you happy, m'lady," he said gently as he offered a hand. Kanade didn't hesitate to take it.

After a long walk through the forest, they had reached her new friends home. It was rather rundown and parts of the ceiling were missing. Kanade looked around, sighing lightly.
" Ah! I never asked your name m'lady, I'm sorry for being so rude," her friend apologized, bowing his head slightly.
" No need to be sorry, my names Kanade," the princess responded," who might you be?"
" Yuri, m'lady," Yuri smiled, his eyes sparkling slightly. He then paused," wait...as in Princess Kanade?"
The princess sighed," I suppose...though I don't like the title of 'princess' very much," she mumbled, pulling her cloak hood down. Her hair has fallen out of its bun, but she didn't care.
" What do you want me to refer to you as, m'lady?" Yuri asked, tilting his head slightly.
" Kanade, just Kanade," she cracked a small smile afterwards, before glancing away," do you ever get lonely?"
" Sometimes, but when I'm lonely I look up at the stars. If it during the day, I draw the stars," Yuri replied, looking up at the night sky. He then pointed to a group of stars," that's the constellation Gemini, it represents twins."
Kanade nodded, finding herself entranced as Yuri talked about the stars. She smiled, closing her eyes soon.

It had been months since the ball, and since Kanade had seen Yuri. Hibiki was unsuccessful at the ball as well, not finding anyone that suited her.
So now, there was a competition being held for the princesses hands in marriage. Hibiki suggested the idea, and she was going with it. A strength contest for Hibiki, but Kanade had a different idea.
She wanted someone to be able to name all the constellations for her. So far, no one had been able to do it.
Kanade was secretly hoping Yuri would show up and save the day like he has done months prior. She was close to giving up.
***
It had been a year since Kanade had seen Yuri, and still nothing, no one was able to name all the constellations yet. She was so close to just giving up, and marrying some poor fool from Hibiki's strength competition.
Kanade was sitting alone in her room, staring out the window and looking out at the stars in silence. She then sighed when there was a knock at her door.
" Come in," she called out, turning to see who it was. Her eyes slightly widened once she saw who it was.
" Y-Yuri..."
" You still remember me?" Yuri smiled, some hair falling over his face before he moved it out of the way.
" Why would I forget?" Kanade replied," Why are you here?"
" I thought I'd try the competition you're holding, I know I won't win, because you probably want a prince-"
" Start," Kanade interrupted, smiling slightly as she struck Yuri off guard. The peasant smiled, taking a deep breath as he went over to the window and began pointing at the constellations and naming them.
" And finally the most important constellation, the Gemini, the symbol of twins," Yuri finished, smiling slightly.
Kanade then smiled brighter," You did it, you named all of them!"
Yuri blushed slightly," So...does that mean I'm going to be your husband?" he asked nervously, before yelping when he was tackled into a hug.
The princess nodded," Yes..." she mumbled," It does..."
Yuri nodded, smiling as well as he closed his eyes," I'm happy then..." he replied," but, why did you hold such an absurd competition?"
Kanade sat up and fixed her hair," Because," she began," only a genius could love a woman like me. And you, Yuri...are a genius."
Yuri blushed more as he hugged his wife-to-be, taking a deep breath," I guess we have to plan a wedding now, my genius."
The princess rolled her eyes playfully, slowly standing up and helping Yuri up. She brushed herself off," I've already started."
" Of course you have," Yuri laughed, grinning soon.

Yuri felt the crown be placed atop his head, he stepped back and turned. His eyes widened once he saw Kanade.
Her dress was a deep blue, with small white and yellow specks dotted across it. Almost like stars. He smiled, and noticed the makeup that had been around her eyes. It was a dark blue, with white specks near her eyelashes. With or without makeup, Yuri was fascinated with the princesses beauty.
" Do you, Prince Yuri take this woman to be your wedded wife?"
" I do," Yuri replied gently, smiling soon.
" Do you, Princess Kanade take this man to be your wedded husband?"
" I do," Kanade said without hesitation, smiling.
" You may now kiss the bride."
Yuri smiled, gently cupping his wife's face and pulling her into a gentle kiss. After a moment, he pulled away and him and Kanade both turned to face the crowd.
" Now presenting the new king and queen of Japan, Yuri and Kanade!"
