"I think it's great that we had the whole first week to decide." Liam said as he, Niall and Harry were walking from their last class of the week to their room.

"Me too." Niall said. "I think I would have not chosen Theatre if it hadn't been for this week."

"Why did you even take theatre?" Liam wondered. "Sports are so much better."

Harry laughed, "I'm not one for
stereotypes, but with your nerd image it would fit much better if you would like theatre and Niall sports with his obsession with girls. It would make him the jock."

"I don't have an obsession with girls." Niall protested. "And using sports as a way to get girls is stupid. In theatre are all the pretty girls. I've seen the football team." He scrunched his nose.

"I don't know." Harry said. "I mean, Louis is on the football team. And Calum looks pretty good." He noticed the other two boys staring at him. "What?"

Niall just shook his head, "Nothing."

"It was really hard for Louis to decide." Harry told them instead of dwelling on the other boys' stares. "He's so talented, you know. He can do everything, but I'm scared he's overdoing himself this year. I mean, Football, Theatre, Piano, Choir. He's never that effortless in school. I don't want him to be too stressed. But his grades are important too-"

"Stop fretting over him." Niall interrupted. "He'll be fine. You sound like you're his mum."

"Or his wife." Liam contributed.

"Besides," Niall continued, "You'll end up doing everything for him that he doesn't manage anyways."

Niall noticed Liam eying Harry curiously. He knew what he was thinking, also having gone through a phase of trying to comprehend Louis and Harry's weirdly close friendship but he knew it was fruitless. No one could understand it but them.

Harry was the first at their room and opened the door. "Lou."

"Haz." Louis said, mirroring his tone with a teasing grin.

"Zayn not here yet?" Niall asked, ignoring Harry cuddling into Louis' side.

"Nope." Louis said. "He has basketball training."

"Zayn plays basketball?" Liam asked, getting out his homework from his bag.

Before anyone could answer the door opened again and Zayn stood in the doorway. "Guys, come to the basketball field right now."

"Why?" Louis asked, trying to open his textbook while still having one arm wrapped around his best friend.

"There's a match. Boys against girls."

"The girls have a basketball team?" Liam wondered but was already standing beside Zayn.

"Hardly. I think they just had a run in with Logan." Zayn said.

"Oh my." Niall laughed. "First week and the girls are already getting in trouble."

More or less reluctantly, Louis and Harry got up and followed the others outside to watch the match. At the front door Niall paused. He looked at Louis and Harry who were holding hands. Hesitantly, he said, "Umm guys. Maybe you shouldn't go outside like this."

The two boys frowned, "Like what?" Louis spoke for them both.

Niall vaguely waved at their intertwined hands. "Why?" Harry wondered.

"You could get bullied because of it." Zayn answered this time. "I've seen it. In a diner back at home in the holidays. Two boys were holding hands and three others came and beat them up."

"And you've done nothing against it?" Louis asked incredulously, unconsciously pulling Harry closer.

"My dad said they were right." Zayn shrugged. "Two boys shouldn't hold hands. But a woman came and stopped before something worse could happen."

"Why shouldn't boys hold hands?" Harry wondered.

"Yeah, we've done it the last years." Louis agreed.

"But it's different now." Niall explained. "We're fourteen, almost fifteen now. And there are girls."

"So?" Louis and Harry inquired at the same time.

"I think they're right." Liam said. "It's not normal and could be perceived wrongly."

"How?" Louis asked.

"For god's sake. It looks like you're gay!" Zayn exclaimed. "Now stop discussing. We need to get to the game. I need to play." He went up behind the two boys and laid an arm around their shoulders to simultaneously separate them and push them forwards.

The game was... Interesting.

At first, the girls were losing hopelessly. It looked like only one of them really knew how to play basketball.

It got turned around after halftime. A girl who was doing nothing but ducking away every time the ball came close to her was happily replaced by a tall haunting looking girl and now there were two rather good players in the five headed team.

The boys grew more frustrated with every goal the girls threw and played increasingly foul. Nobody dared to cheer for the girls though because the boys were popular, tall and with their position in the team powerful influencers on the school.

That was, until one of the really good female players was fouled by none other than Logan Reese. Logan was a rather good looking boy with really rich parents and way too much self-confidence. This was always bound to get him in trouble. He was the one who motivated the girls to compete against them.

When he pushed the blonde girl to the ground while she was about to score a goal, a small boy started to cheer for the girls. From then on, it was like the whole watchful crowd was supporting the girls.

In the end, the girls managed to win by a few points. Angrily, the boys team stomped away.

"Lou!"

Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis turned to Lottie, who threw herself around Louis' neck excitedly. "Lottie! What's up?"

"We won, Lou. We won." She cheered.

"What?" Louis frowned, "You didn't even play."

"But the girls won." Lottie explained. "I'm a girl. So I belong to the team."

"Whatever you say, sis."

"Eww, don't call me sis." Lottie complained.

"Why not? You're my sister." Louis defended.

"But this 'I'm-so-cool'-genre doesn't suit you."

"Why not? I'm cool." Louis said indignantly.

"Well, you're-"

Lottie's reply was cut off by Eleanor who appeared with a couple of other girls. "So she's Lottie?"

"Umm... Yes." Louis said, feeling Harry shift uncomfortably beside him. Absentmindedly, he squeezed his hand to calm him.

"And she's your sister?" Eleanor inquired.

"Well, yes." Louis said, again sensing Harry's discomfort and shifting closer to him.

"Then why did you tell me she was your girlfriend?" Eleanor frowned.

"What?!" Lottie exclaimed.

Finally Louis understood why Harry was uncomfortable. He had totally forgotten about the lie. "Umm..." Louis tried to find an explanation.

"Do you want to go to the cafeteria with us? It's almost dinner time." Niall, who always seemed to sense when Louis and Harry did not know how to cope with these strange situations, invited them.

That's how their little friend group was extended.
