When Mahiru and I arrived at the cafe, we were greeted by a shaggy white haired boy in a waiter's uniform. I can obviously guess who it was from a mile away.

"Hello ladies! I'm assuming you want a table for two correct?" The male asked. "Actually, a table for three, the cat unraveled the ball halfway." Mahiru responded. Nagito nodded and told us the time he'd be off his shift, not shortly after, a waiter came by and showed us to our table.

"What does "the cat unraveled the ball halfway" supposed to mean?" I ask dumbfounded. "Oh it's just a code-word for new info, no biggie." She giggled as she grabbed the menu and gave me a closed eye smile. I sighed and looked out the window letting my mind drift off into wonderland.

Thirty minutes after we arrived, Nagito had finally finished his shift and is now sitting with us. We had just ordered our food, and now we're talking business, which was super complicated because we don't know if my proposition isn't correct otherwise.

"So what you're saying is, anything we say that is considered unlawful or unrealistic, the citizens will hear differently?" Nagito asked resting his thumb and forefinger on his chin. "Well that's what happened at my job interview." I replied. "Well it'd explain why that girl in the alleyway looked like she saw a blade for the first time in her life just a few days ago..." Mahiru added. "I don't remember Junko telling me that at all." Nagito spoke giving off a confused expression.

"Maybe it slipped her mind, try asking her the next time you visit the despairants as well as an addition to your so called co-workers and see if they know anything, tell me their responses afterwards. Oh! And try not to make the question obvious, I may barely know anything about them, but I'm not gonna doubt them." I say as the waitress placed our food on the table.

"Well the thing is, I haven't seen any criminal activities from them besides the usual." Nagito commented. "Robberies, murders....streaking and mooning." I spat out my water as soon as I heard the last two listings, Mahiru just looked at me and giggled. "What?!" I asked with a surprised tone in my voice, looking at Nagito. "The despairants have their own definition of fun." He chuckled as he began eating his food. I sighed in grief and began to eat my food.

The next morning, I was woken up by my annoying phone alarm- wait, no. It wasn't my alarm. Someone was calling me. I lazily reached for my phone off of my nightstand and answered it. "Hello?" My voice was groggy and dry. "Good morning (y/n)." A familiar voice rang from the other side of the phone.  'Why the fuck is Ms. Kirigiri calling me this early?'  I thought to myself. "Oh yeah, good morning." I reply lazily as I roll off the bed, my body impacting harshly of the floor.

"I called to see what your plans are today." She presumed. I got up and walked to the mirror to see my (h/l) hair was everywhere there was dry drool on the corner of my mouth, my eyes were crusty and my breath smelled awful. I sighed and rested my arm on the counter. "I don't know, work." I sighed. "Specifically." She said in a stern voice not pleased with my answer.

I rolled my eyes and grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste. "I'll.... check everyone's newspaper reports, see what information this company is feeding the world, adding on to my guess, it's making people more stupid than they are and think this is nothing but wonderland." I say, then putting the toothbrush in my mouth, brushing my teeth. "Yes it does seem like that does it?" She asked. "Why else would I be bursting other people's bubbles and reading their shit for?" I asked with the toothbrush still hanging from my mouth.

She sighs, realizing she called at the wrong time. "You seem to have a point, call me at lunchtime and tell me your update." She spoke firmly. "Yes ma'am!" I spoke once more with the toothbrush in my mouth. She sighed and hung up. I then spit the toothpaste in the sink then rinsed out my mouth and continued my morning routine.

After an hour of getting ready I popped two bagels into the toaster and looked at the clock and realized I'm going to be late. 'I'm sorry for trying to look professional for once!' I thought angrily. As soon as my bagels popped out of the toaster, I grabbed them not caring if they were extremely hot, and ran out the door.

Once I made it to work, I had burst through the door like my life depended on it. A bunch of eyes landed on me, I couldn't help but feel absolutely humiliated to be late on my first day of work! I sighed and started to look for a desk that had my name on it, apparently it was right in front of Mahiru's, but she wasn't there. I sighed in relief, I didn't bump into Mr. Munakata yet, I sat down and started looking through the computer on this business's previous articles.

"Care tell me why you're late Ms. (L/n)?" A deep brooding voice called from behind me. I jumped due to the sudden awareness and tensed up. "Well? I don't have all day, I'm a very busy man." Munakata comments. 'And yet you're still here to see why I was late, Mahiru isn't here why don't you call and scold her?' I sighed. "I wasn't paying attention to the time sir, so when I was making my breakfast I realized I was already late, so I'm guessing I forgot to set my alarm and fell asleep while reading last night. I'm sorry sir, it won't happen again." I explain to him calmly without looking at him, afraid to see his expression.

As if right on cue, Mahiru came running in the building with a million things in her arms then sitting right of me her chest heaving rapidly. "I'm not even going to ask..." Munakata said as he walked away, Mahiru silently celebrated for not being asked why she was late. I laughed a little and started to work.

So apparently, the person who's in charge of proof reading everyone's articles called in sick, and Mahiru volunteered me to take their place for the day, so instead of eating lunch, I'm doing this. And BOY! Did Mr. Munakata hire some shitty people.

"You know (Y/n) people write stupid articles because they can't see what you see. It's exactly what you suspected." Mahiru spoke with a mouthful of Ramen. "I know, but even people at Togami corporations write something as stupid as this!" I yell holding up the paper that has bullshit written all over it. "Patience is key, (Y/n) as long as you stay dedicated to this case, we'll bring the despairants, or whoever is behind this, to justice, hopefully." I laughed a little due to Mahiru's face stuffed with ramen, but she has a point. I sighed and continued to proofread the articles.

After work, I got a call from Ms. Kirigiri, of course she wanted to know what I found, of course it was nothing interesting, but she was quite intrigued by them. But then again, I find Ms. Kirigiri kinda...odd.

"By the way (Y/n), its raining outside right?" She asked, in fact,it was and I was underneath the bus station waiting for the next bus. Mahiru had to stay late to work because she was late the entire week. "Yeah."

"Komaru forgot her umbrella back at the base, since you're taking the bus heading in that direction, could you come pick her up and come back to the base? Makoto won't be happy if his sister returned soaking wet with a chance of catching hypothermia." She added. "Yes, of course, I'd be happy to!" I smiled. 'She could've just asked me without explanation, I would've done it either way.' I thought. "Good, I'll see you guys later." And with that she hung up.

I sighed and got on the bus as soon as it arrived, there's only one high school nearby, so that's the one that Komaru probably attends. I looked out the window, watching the rain hit the window while trying to look for my stop.

I got off the bus in front of the school, I then opened up my umbrella and walked across the street and into the school. Being nice, I decided to pick Komaru up early.

I walked up to the front desk and tried to get one of the administrator's attention. It took awhile, but it finally happened. She seemed very old, she was also very short, so I had to look down to give her direct eye contact. I would be lying if I didn't say it was awkward.

"Hi! I came to pick up Komaru Naegi, she has an appointment." I say as I smile at her, she smiled back at me. "Yes, of course! Hold on, I'll go page her." And with that, the tiny lady went behind the counter and picked up the phone.

"Hello Ms. Yukizome can Ko-" Before she can finish her sentence, an alarm went off, slightly startling me. I look over to the small woman to see that she'd drop the phone and is now dancing on the desk. "This is my favorite song!" She chimed. I rolled my eyes and rushed to the nearest window to see what the hell is going on.

I spectated to see if there was anything going on, it seemed pretty normal, until one certain thing caught my eye. My eyes widened in horror.

'Oh no! This can't be happening!'
