warning: slight lotor x lance (its hardly nothing), small relation to Keith's sacrifice attempt

(lances pov)

I leave my room, wearing the garrison armour instead of the paladin armour, knowing that I may or may not be coming back anytime soon. 'soon' being the keyword, as I plan to escape and destroy lotor, before returning to my position as paladin.

I walk along the atlas hallway, making my way to the shuttle landing zone, each of the paladins including coran and shiro, stand waiting for me.

"lance you don't have to do this, we can do this differently." Keith states, trying to convince me that we can find a new way to rid of lotor and his fleet.

"we don't have time keith, he could turn his cruisers against us in mere ticks, I need to do this. don't worry though, I don't plan to stay very long, and I promise not to spill any of our secrets, if I know any that is." I try to put a comedic spin on the sentence, lightening the mood while also convincing the others that I had this under control.

"we just want you to be safe, lotor is dangerous, and he may not keep to his word. lance, please be careful, we know that you are strong, but don't dig yourself a hole. we know that at times you can be cocky and say things out of turn." shiro may be right, I have to be smart about this. instead of reacting with anger, I should evaluate the situation and use my brain.

"I'll be fine, I just got to get under his skin, maybe then he could reveal some info to me, rather than me revealing information to him." I reply swiftly, already knowing my plan and its inner workings.

as the others wish me luck and bid me goodbye, a galran cargo ship lands in one of the shuttle bays. opening its doors to reveal several guards and the prince himself, they walk forward to meet us. showing no signs of threatening behaviour, I walk to the front of the paladins.

"are you ready to go lance, I have been waiting ever so patiently for you." the prince speaks with a smile on his face, knowing the damage that he is doing to both the team and myself, useless prince.

"of course, I'm ready." I say swiftly, trying to get this over and done with before I change my mind and run back into the arms of my team.

"well then, we must depart swiftly, there are many things to be done, and such little time." he says dismissively, then turns to enter back into the ship.

I follow behind him, not looking back at my team knowing that if I did, I may not go into the ship at all. before I can enter, a guard takes my wrists and places magnetic cuffs on them, then proceeding to let me into the ship. so far I have not been treated with any abuse or violent language, so far so good.

the ships doors close, after the guards standing beside the ship enter. the shuttle landing zone doors open, allowing us to leave and for the cargo hold to return to its mother ship. looking out one of the shuttle windows, I can see that the princes cruiser is about half the size of zarkons, but is surrounded by the same amount of galra fighters and battle cruisers.

the ship successfully lands, and the doors open to a many other of the same kind. two guards place there hands on my shoulder, guiding me out of the door to follow the prince to what I think is my cell, we walk through many twists and turns, but being on guard, I memorize each turn and path we take.

we arrive at a set of doors, to pristine to be any normal cell, but to secure to be a normal bedroom or quarters. the doors are opened and the prince and I enter with the guards waiting outside the cell. the room consists of a small metal bed, secured to the ground with a thin mattress on the top. a small water fountain on the other side of the room, with a door next to it, most probably a small bathroom. this cell is not like any I have seen, as usually they only rarely have a water fountain for beings who need water to survive.

"as you probably have already realized, this cell has been adapted to suite your most necessary needs, this is because you are a very important prisoner on this ship and I would like it if you didn't die in the first few quintants." he explains. makes sense, but what does he even need me for?

"your also wondering why your here, correct?" he asks while slowly creeping towards me, a smirk placed on his perfect face.

"um, well...yea." I stutter, trying to put my words into a sentence while backing away from lotor, but my efforts are fruitless as I am backed up against the wall with his face ever so close to mine.

"I needed one of the paladins to become my little experiment. you see I have learnt that the most selfless paladins are able to unlock a special type of quintessence, so I called upon your new ship to see which paladin would sacrifice themselves for the rest of their team." he says in quiet but audible voice.

"to be quite honest, I thought that Keith would be the one to sacrifice himself as he has already tried to do this once, before I stopped him and saved you all of course." he steps one foot closer, his lips right next to my ear.

"It was a pleasant surprise of course, I really do find you quite interesting, lance." he says in a hushed whisper, as if he was telling his most important secret. he steps back and opens the door, facing towards the exit, he says one final sentence.

"welcome to your new life, lance" he exits, leaving me in a room full of darkness and sorrow.

what have I done?
