"Hey, honey! Do you remember when I gave this to you a couple years ago?" Sean said, walking into Kaycee's hospital room with a large book in his hands. Kaycee looked up, surprised to see him.

"Visiting hours ended hours ago," she said, smiling nonetheless. He simply shrugged, walking closer. As he came in, he kept an eye on the heart monitor above her bed, making sure everything was still as it should be.

"What is it?" Kaycee asked, sitting up from her position in her hospital bed, being mindful of the IVs and wires hooked up along her arms. Sean sat down next to his wife of over six decades and handed her the book that he had in his hands.

"Oh my goodness!" Kaycee exclaimed, running her fingers delicately over the letters embroidered in the top of the photo album in her hands. Our Adventure Book. "I can't believe you found this." She looked over at him lovingly, joining their hands over the polyester sheet.

She flipped it open, gazing at the old, faded photos from their childhood. Dance competitions, birthday parties, and Disneyland trips.

"Do you remember this day?" Sean asked, pointing at a photo of Kaycee with her arms thrown over her head as a wave crashes into her from behind. The idyllic view of mountains and palm trees make up the background.

"Of course I remember. That was the first day of our honeymoon," Kaycee responded, squeezing his hand and stroking the photograph.

"Sean come on! It's so hot, can we please go in the water?" She asked, tugging on his arm.

"Hold on, hold on, let me put the towels down at least," he said, laying out their towels and putting down the bag that he had over his shoulder.

Kaycee pulled her sundress over her head, earning an appreciative look from her now husband. Husband. It felt good to finally call him that.

"Stop drooling and come with me," she said, reaching her hand out to him. Before he grabbed her hand, he reached into their bag and grabbed his camera, not wanting to miss a moment.

She led him towards the water, skipping with excitement. Even though the beach was only a car ride away from their home, there was nothing like Maui. He wanted to capture the moment in a bottle and keep it with him for the rest of his life, but he would have to settle for the next best thing.

He let go of her hand as she bounded into the water. She turned around to face him, confused as to why he hadn't followed her. She rolled her eyes and smiled when she saw him pointing his camera at her. She threw her hands up in pure bliss, shrieking with excitement and shock as an unexpected wave crashed into her from behind. She regained her balance as Sean continually snapped pictures.

"Okay, come on. That's enough pictures for now," she complained, jutting out her bottom lip and crossing her arms.

"I got the perfect one anyway," he said over his shoulder as he jogged back to put his camera away before joining in the water.

She was standing so the water settled around her waist, staring out at the sun as it kissed the top of the ocean in the distance. He wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on top of her head.

"It's so beautiful," she whispered, running her hands over his arms. He left a kiss on the back of her head.

They watched the sun until it was completely lost by the horizon, letting the water lap around them. The beach was empty except for them, a stroke of luck that they were both grateful for.
