Klaus POV
I was storing away some old documents, which had been scattered all over my room, when Elijah called me down to get our siblings from school. I always loved to drive up to the front of that building and wait for my siblings and friends to join us. It was one of the only times each day, I got to take a breath and just be for no other reason than to help out those closest to me. Though, I could be very impatient when they took a lot of time to get ready to leave. After all, I was a busy man.
Today however, another reason drove me to be excited for our trip to the school. I was hoping to see Caroline again, my sister's friend who had caught my attention. Rebekah was very fond of her and I was almost certain, it was partly because she knew my history with the blonde.
Unfortunately, the girl herself did not seem to recall what history that was. When I had seen the girl at the bar that one day, I had not been able to take my eyes off her. Her chuckle, the way she did this little hair flip whenever a strand of it tickled her cheeks.
But that day, I had refrained myself from talking to her. I thought it to be too dangerous. Since Rebekah had now already gotten Caroline into closer ties with my family, such carefulness could be considered less important, but not entirely disregarded! I had hesitated before asking Rebekah for Caroline's number, but I couldn't help myself after she'd asked if we knew each other. This was foolish of me, I knew that. Nevertheless, I needed to make sure she was no threat to our family and herself.
Having arrived at the school's entrance, I got out off the car. My casual clothes were a bit dirty from something I'd taken care of this morning. I just hoped Caroline wouldn't notice. Yet, to my surprise, the pretty blonde did not accommodate my siblings as they headed towards us. Was she perhaps still inside? Elijah put his hands inside his pockets, giving me a glance.
"Are you looking for her?", he asked in a low voice. I didn't answer. As the other Mikaelsons came closer, I noticed the other students' looks and whispers. Some regarded us with fear, others with respect. This made a prideful smile appear on my face. They did not dare oppose us, just as it should be.
We had made a name for ourselves apart from our father's reputation. More importantly, I had made myself known to them unrelated to the man, who didn't give two fucks about me.
Rebekah had now reached us and threw her bag on the back seat.
"Where is Caroline?", I asked, masking my disappointment with blank boredom."She is sick, so I sent her home to get some rest.", my sister answered, watching me closely to monitor my reaction.
"Oh." Hopefully, it was nothing serious. It would be a shame if she had to cancel our meeting on Saturday. I had been looking forward to having a nice cup of coffee with her. I scratched my chin. Maybe I should shave before I met up with Caroline, if she was feeling better of course. I would chat her up later on to see if she was alright.
"Let's get going, brother.", Elijah opened the car door and got in. I followed, being shotgun this time since my brother would drive.
"Hey Klaus.", Marcel notified me, after Elijah had started the engine. "I talked to some informants at school and I got bad news."
"Spit it out.", I urged him, turning in my seat to look at my friend. The younger one appeared worried, which I did not like at all. He never had that look on his face unless he had something very vital to tell me."Someone is spreading rumors about you again.", he started. I let out a slight laugh.
"That is nothing new.", I stated.Marcel's jaw tensed. "I know. But these involve your mother."
"Mother?", Rebekah immediately locked her phone to listen in more carefully. "What does it say about mother?"
