The other side of the Mikaelsons

I couldn't sleep all night; the seed of doubt Stefan had planted had started growing since seeing Davina and Marcel all shaken up yesterday. What was the family keeping from me this time?

The only answer Rebekah had given me via text had been to stay away from the house for a few weeks, which didn't help. Something was seriously wrong. If only I knew what. Perhaps I would find some change of thought by turning on the TV? It was worth a try, so I decided to tune into the news.

"The politician, however, has come out with a statement denying any involvement at all.", the news anchor finished a story before moving on to the next. "In other news, we now go over to Daniel Whiteman in New Orleans, where police have recently discovered a body. Daniel, what can you tell us about the finding and the ongoing investigation?"

The picture changed to the reporter in New Orleans, standing in front of police tape somewhere not far away from my school. This made me feel very uneasy, not gonna lie.

"Thank you, Susan. I am standing near the crime scene right now, where the body was found last night by a civilian. The police have stated that as of right now, no gender nor identity could be deduced because of the unrecognizable state the cadaver.", the reporter explained, making me gulp and putting down the toast, I had just finished making.

"Has it been declared a murder case yet?", Susan wanted to know from the studio.
"Because of the lack of evidence, no option can be ruled out. The lead investigator does not want to jump to any conclusion, so we will have to wait until more clues are discovered."
"Thank you, Daniel, keep us updated about the situation. Now moving on to the weather."

With a click, I turned off the TV. My appetite was gone and my mouth dry. A possible murder in this city? Why did my mind now wander to the Mikaelsons once again? Was it due to Stefan's words? This was not good.

I needed to figure out what was going on with my friends. Not that I thought they were involved with this death, but because I needed confirmation of whatever was going on was nothing bad. Stuffing the food into my mouth, I took my keys, phone and wallet and headed out in a rush.

What was I thinking? If I conveniently ran into Klaus, would I actually have the guts to follow him? Without him noticing on top of that. The streets were busy which only furthered my belief in the impossibility of even getting a glimpse of the Mikaelson family.

Contrary to my expectation though I did find one of the siblings in the crowd. It was Elijah, who was talking to a friend of Marcel's in a serious manner. The man had obvious concern in his eyes and when he thanked the other with a nod and turned away, my brain had already entered a stage of undeniable curiosity.

Could I march over there and talk to him? Yes, sure, however, I doubted I would get a straight and honest answer. And so, I did what I usually would not indulge in. I followed in secret, keeping my head low to not be spotted.

To my luck, Elijah joined with Kol and Klaus, who seemed just as uneasy as their suited up brother.
"What did Tierri say?", Klaus asked, discomfort in his voice.

"As instructed, he checked out the place and confirmed the location of the dealer you had told us about. Though, in truth, it turns out to be two.", Elijah gave back. "They are not far from here, we could make it before father finds out where we have gone."

Kol seemed to toss around a thought in his mind before finally articulating it to his siblings. "I understand why we are doing this, I truly do. But are we sure, it's a good idea? Buyers are one thing, but messing with father's dealers is a whole other level. On top of that, I don't feel comfortable not sharing this with Rebekah and the rest. They should know."
