Caroline POV
I was kicked awake rather unwelcoming by a sleeping Bonnie beside me. While Stefan and Elena were sleeping on the couch, sadly with a still kind of frosty atmosphere between them, I had invited Bonnie to settle in my bed since my flat really wasn't the biggest. However, my friend seemed to not rest so well, she kept turning and tossing in her sleep causing me to wake up several times. When she started kicking, I decided it was time for me to stand up and so I headed to the kitchen, not forgetting to take my phone with me. I was considering to make breakfast for everybody when a message from the hybrid popped up on my phone screen. Smiling to myself, I unlocked it. Not that I was going to publicly admit it but I had gotten past him beating up those dudes. There seemed to be something more to it and I was certainly not the type to back down so quickly, which was why I'd decided to give him another shot. And maybe, just maybe, I was even enjoying our conversations. Also, Elena had changed my background from the picture I'd taken once I was hiking to a photo of Mystic Falls as a "reminder of home". A sweet thought, I guessed.
He was definitely hiding something! I was sure he wasn't telling me everything that bothered him and didn't want to push him into telling me but a part of my subconscious mind told me he actually was longing to tell this to someone.
What? How could he do that? What kind of father took away something so dear from their own child? There had to be something seriously wrong with that Mikael fella!
