I felt empty when I put some meat in my mouth. Rebekah had been so kind as to provide me with some of the remaining food so I would at least not starve to death. While she and Davina then cleaned the table, swearing quietly and sighing almost every second, Hayley took it upon herself to nurse my wounds. Elijah sat down next to us, apologizing for not being more helpful.
"There was nothing you could have done, brother.", I reassured him. "You would've just unnecessarily gotten injured as well."
Flinching as Hayley was applying pressure to the wound, I continued. "Besides, we all have nothing we can do to defend ourselves. He is just too powerful. But I swear to you, some day I will make him pay for everything."
He nodded calmly, hiding his face in the palms of his hands. "You do know, father will never let you paint again, don't you? At least not here."
"I will find a way.", I sighed, trying more to convince myself than him. I had just lost one of the most precious things to me. I just hoped he would not find my hidden treasures, my most valuable drawings, which I had stored away safely in a hidden spot.
"Hold still.", Hayley said calmly while having successfully bandaged the first of three wounds. It did really hurt but it was nothing compared to my inner confict. By now, I hated Mikael so much, I could kill him for real. But I was not yet able to overpower him, there still had to be some work down beforehand.
"Okay, all done.", the brunette gave me a tired smile and stood up.
"Thank you, little wolf, you are an angel.", I told her, feeling much better already.
"No, I'm an alpha.", she grinned and tossed her hair back. That actually had me chuckle.
"You all should head to bed. This also stroke a nerve for all of you. I'll be fine down here on the couch until father gets his ass out of my room.", I told them and the love-birds exchanged worried looks.
"Are you sure, you will be fine?", Hayley wanted to know.
No. I was not.
"Yes.", I said and leaned back. "I'll be okay."My siblings had now all headed to bed at my request, leaving me alone on the couch with a blanket, which was way too thin for the cold. The only thing I had was my phone, which suddenly made a sound and startes blinking in the dark. From upstairs, I could hear Mikael in my room, going through all my stuff and collecting things to burn. Sick bastard.
I quickly checked, who had sent me a message and was more than oleased to find out, it was Caroline. She was like the only light these dark times seemed to offer. I wrote back and it soon turned into a conversation. Wasn't she with her friends? She did still take the time to write me? Okay, I was up for it. I even sat up to be able to write back faster.Yeah, I was. But it was true. I wasn't sure if I should tell her about what happened to my art material but I didn't want to bother her with it. As a result, I kept quiet.
He already did something stupid. And he was literally the devil.
So it was them who went there. Of course. I was sure, Stefan was probably not speaking well of me, though he was no angel either. He had sinned just like me but as well as I knew him, he wasn't going to admit that. However, this made it even more impressive that she gave me a shot with him there.
A smiled crossed my mind. How was she so sweet? A part of me wished I had told her about my art attire but I didn't want to draw her into this. At least my painting of hers had survived my father's wrath. There was no way he was getting that one.
What made me the happiest was not even the fact that Caroline had been the one chatting me up for the second time today nor that she seemed to ignore Stefan's request to stay away (which I was sure he had given to her) but moreover that she had agreed to keep talking in the future. Meaning I would get a daily dose of literal sunshine! No matter what happened, I could count on that at least! And, to be truthful, this thought made the living nightmare my father was inflicting on me just enough brighter to stick to survival..Hey guys,
Sorry that this chapter wasn't as long as usual, the next one will be longer again! Hope you enjoyed it anyways!
ByeeClear Version Chat Conversation:
Caroline: Hey you.
Klaus: Hello love.
Caroline: Bekah wrote me very worried before to ask where you are. Did something happen?
Klaus: I got into some trouble. But it's fine.
Caroline: Are you sure?
Klaus: Yes. It was worth it.
Caroline: Really? It sounds pretty serious...
Klaus: Well, I did get to see you.
Caroline: You're such a flirt!
Klaus: Okay, joke aside now, I mean it. It'll be fine. Hopefully.
Caroline: You don't sound convinced.
Klaus: How about you convince me?
Caroline: Haha, you wish! Just think that you'llbe free some day.
Klaus: I just hope my father won't do anything stupid.
Caroline: Is he really that bad?
Klaus: You have no idea.
Caroline: I noticed...
Klaus: But what about you? Your friend chatted you up, right? That's why you had to leave?
Caroline: Yeah. My best friends just came to town today.
Klaus: Did they?
Caroline: I had mentioned really missing them so they took it upon themselves to surprise me. They waited for me when I got home. I was actually kind of moved.
Klaus: That sounds great.
Caroline: It is! They're the best, really! I just don't know where to put them to be honest. I mean, Stef and Elena can sleep on the couch and Bonnie in my bed, I guess. That should do it.
Klaus: Stef? So three girls?
Caroline: No, Stef is short for Stefan.
Klaus: Salvatore?
Caroline: Yes. He did mention he knew you. You had "history together"?
Klaus: It's a long story.
Caroline: Strange. Exactly what he said to me.
Klaus: I'll tell you about it someday perhaps.
Caroline: I'll hold you to that! Actually, I should probably go now, we're about to play a game.
Klaus: Caroline?
Caroline: Yeah?
Klaus: I'm glad, we're talking again and we may not see each other so soon but how about we keep chatting?
Caroline: Sounds good.
Klaus: Perfect! Enjoy your night!
Caroline: You too!
