The next day, was the day my life in the army began. While I was at school,I noticed a boy who was being pushed around. He wore glasses,had blonde hair and a set of strange slanted eye's. He was definitely not a northerner. I knew all too well what foreigners were treated like here. I'd seen it happen all the time when I walked through the slums on my way home.

I debated on whether I should help the boy, or just leave him. I strolled past hearing his cries for help. He struggled to speak,with each time he spoke,they pushed him,cutting him off.

"Let him go." I said.

The other kids looked at me,smirks on their faces. "Or what?"

As they each walked toward me,one of their friends stood in front of them all. "Guys...that's Nova...the freak who put the senior's in the hospital... He'll kill us! Let's just leave him alone..."

Fear covered their faces and soon,they dispersed.

The boys eye's met my own.

I turned and began walking away,my work there was done.

"Hey!" He said behind me.

Keep walking.

"Wait up!"

Walk.

I felt a hand on my wrist as I was pulled back.

"Hey...thank you. For helping me."

"It was nothing. Now let go of my wrist."

"Wait! Could you walk me home? They usually catch me there..."

"You're on your own."

"Please! Please...I have no one else to turn to..."

"You're right you don't."

It's one time...one time never hurt any body...he just better not make this a fuckin daily thing.

So,I decided I'd walk the boy home. As we walked,he asked a whole plethora of questions as he wiped his dirty uniform.

"So," he began as he pushed his glasses up the nose of his bridge. "What's your name?"

I never responded.

"My name is Jin. Jin Hakouki."

Hakouki...that name...that accent. He was from the east. Asahi was the name of his continent wasn't it? Or something with an A.

They were a people who had a strict code of honour, and followed it religiously. Jin led me to his home,where he took his shoes off at the doorstep.

"O-kaasan! Taidama!"

"Okaeri!"

"Konbanwa"

Jin's head snapped back. "Wha..."

"What?"

"You can-"

"A bit. Now I walked you ho-"

"Jin! There you are ya little fecker! Come here!"

A man with blonde hair appeared in the door way adjacent to us. Jin ran to the man,throwing his arms around his neck. He hoisted Jin into the air,cupping on arm underneath Jin's  kneecap to keep him up.

"Whose this little guy?" He asked.

"That's my friend!"
