ELENA
I sat beside Nova, gently pressing the gause doused with antisepctic over his eye. He barely moved, barely cringed, just sat,as if the pain barely mattered at all. The large cut over his eye had bled profusely in the carriage and I was more than happy to stitch it up when we arrived back at our room.
"You know, maybe you should wear some armour Nova? Like me. See? Barely got a scratch on me. Dragonian Steel for the win"
Nova let out a small sigh and shrugged. "Armour slows me down. Can't stand it."
"Dragonian steel barely weighs anything, you should try it Nova. Cloth isn't exactly the best armour to wear in a fight."
"You know I never take the coat off except for when I need to hit the hay."
"Just because I bought it for you doesn't mean you have to wear it every day."
Nova shrugged. "It's comfortable."
I gently pressed the gauze against Nova's eye once more, picking up a needle and stitches. "Ready?"
"I guess so."
I slowly pressed the needle against Nova's skin, hearing him take a deep breath as he shut his eye.
"Here goes" I warned.
Nova grimaced as I stitched the cut close. Gently dousing his wound,I finished soon after, throwing the bloody gauze away and placing everything back into the med kit. I had already nursed his gut a few hours ago, which was more than a mission. Nova didn't move much, but he did suddenly jerk from time to time, which often led to me missing with the needle and cutting him even deeper.
Needless to say it was over. Nova was all stitched up and almost nursed back to health. Now all he needed was rest.
"We're off for the next two weeks to recover. You should rest." I said, pushing Nova back onto the bed.
"Elena..."
"What?"
"Get off of me."
My face turned into a tomato for a few seconds as I hopped off of Nova. I had meant to just push him down gently and let him lie down, not straddle him afterwards.
"I'm sorry..."
Nova sighed, the sound of shuffling and sheets moving filled my ears.
"Don't think about it too much."
Silence ensued and for a time,no one said a word.
"You can turn around now. Hop in if you want Elena. It is our bed."
I was in that bed before I myself knew what had happened. Nova had his back faced to me,leaving me to observe all the scars which ran along his back.
I had an overwhelming desire to touch them. So...I kinda did.
I placed my index finger against one of Nova's scars. It was rough, rugged, and it felt out of place. As did all the other scars.
"Elena..."
"Yes!" I said, almost yelling in suprise.
Nova was silent for a moment before he spoke.
"That tickles. Cut it out."
"Sorry!"
"You're yelling again."
I buried my face into my pillow and screamed into it.
"That isn't gonna make much of a difference."
"If waf worf fhe fry!"
Nova said nothing. Remaining silent as always. Again,I spied the scars on his back, his arm's...where did he get them from? Monsters? Humans?
