"Grand plié." Mr. Dominic instructed, going around the dance room to fix any improper technique, or postures."And up, into the barré and away from the barré."
I did as told, hoping that this 15 minutes we had left of class went by quickly.
"Presume to third position." I put my feet in third position, taking a deep breath.
I sucked my tummy in and placed my tail bone down so that I had a straight back. Mr. Dominic always got onto me about my posture, so that was one of the main things I was trying to fix.
"Relevé!" He exclaimed, clapping his hands together.
Because today was pointé week, all of the dancers had on their pointé shoes and our feet were killing us.
Mr. Dominic counted down from 20 all the way down to 1 and we could finally release.
"Alright class. We have 10 minutes left of class. I'm giving you this 10 to stretch out your calf muscles, your toes, ankles, or whatever else feels unusually tight, or stiff."
"Thank you dancers." He smiled his wide grin, excited the dance room and went into his office.
Because I really didn't talk to anyone in this dance class besides the few associates I had, I went into the corner of the dance room and stretched on my own.
All that's been on my mind today was the fact that Junior leaves in one more week and I couldn't completely wrap my head around that.
It made me feel quite better that I was from L.A., so I would get to see him more than what I thought, but it still sucks because I won't be able to see him whenever I wanted to.
I pulled my toes back and listened to the wonderful sound of them popping. I pointed them as far as they could go and released them back.
Putting my legs in a pike position, I reached down to grab the bottom of my feet and just stayed like that for a few minutes.
I let out a breath of relief. I made sure to stretch out my back and strengthen my calf muscles.
Once it was time to leave the class, I gathered up all of my things and prepared for my next dance class which was Modern 3 with Mrs. Vivian.
_Princeton sat down on Monica's couch and watched as she folded up a random blanket that was lying around on the floor.
"He should be here any minute now. I'm glad you agreed to talk to him."
Princeton smiled, locking his phone. "It's no problem Monica."
Monica's first love, Erin, was on his way up to meet Princeton.
Monica and Erin had met back in high school. She was a freshman and he was a sophomore.
She always had a thing for dudes being older than her. She was never attracted to guys her age, or any younger.
The two connected instantly and became kind of like best friends. They were so close to the point where his side of the family knew Monica's and Monica's side of the family knew of Erin's.
One thing led to another and the two had eventually established a serious relationship. Monica eventually became pregnant her senior year of high school and not only did Erin stick around the whole entire 9 months she carried, but he also mourned their baby's death right along with Monica.
That was a rough patch for both Monica and Erin's relationship. At a time, there was nothing but arguments, fighting and major disagreements over the most stupidest things, but the two eventually came back... as always.
