"I'm home!"
Your gaze diverted at the sound of that familiar voice, and you had felt a slight shiver as the door creaked open eerily, creating slight anticipation.
Midoriya placed the bags against the idle desk which stationed in front of his bed. He heard no response from you, and chuckled. "Don't be like that. What're you supposed to say when someone special returns from a hard day's work?"
He removed his coat and folded it, soon to place it against the desk as well. Meanwhile you sat up, and eventually eyed him leisurely.
"...Welcome home..."
Your senses became dull during his presence, however you smelled the distinct and foul stench of blood. Green hair gently swayed as Midoriya manuevered alongside of the window, staring through it as though it was picking a fight with him.
"[Y/N], have you seen anyone outside of the motel recently?"
You found difficulty in replying, and believe it or not, you did hear a few things outside; not just the chattering of fellow superhuman and non-superhuman Samaritans. But as you were primarily focused on your safety during the time, you easily brushed it off and figured it was nothing to be concerned about.
Hesitantly, you shook your head.
Midoriya's face brightened with glee, however his ruthless green orbs were no where near optimistic as his other features. "Good! I'm glad!" He cooed with a gentle smile, as he closed the curtains.
Darkness, as well as shadows filled the room, but faint yet bright rays of light tresspassed through the thin curtains, managing to brighten the room subtly.
"S..So, um... can I... ask you.. a question in return?"
You asked quietly, hopefully it was audible enough. The male paused for a while, and had remained frozen as if he had a difficult time replying. He bit down on his tongue, smart enough to anticipate what you needed-- no, wanted to know.
"You're... curious about the smell, aren't you?" He started, his tone rising with sinister malice you never even dreamed of hearing. Midoriya watched as you nodded like an afraid lost pup, before lowering his head in obscurity. His lips curved downwards, his silence almost pushing you to the brink.
He took one deep breath, and turned toward the folded coat. He then held it up by the shoulders, the folds collapsing like it was being hung up on a hanger.
You were confused at first, before realizing what stained his admittedly nice coat; slightly dried blood which you noticed only surrounded the majority of the top half. You clenched your shirt tightly with your unrestricted hand, that weak heart of yours tightening by the mere sight of what he shown you.
Midoriya suddenly locked his gaze with your own, as what was once an unhappy frown easily contorted into a forced grin.
"I ... talked to Uraraka today!"
The twisted gesture he presented almost made you want to cry out of guilt and pain, and so you raised your hands to sheild your face as you had shed temporary tears. You knew exactly what he meant, and as soon as you realized, your heart ached in pain. "I ... don't... understand..." Your shoulders trembled in unwary sadness and partial anger.
Midoriya laid the coat against the desk once more, in a never-ending lapse of sanity. "Of course you won't understand..." His eyes shifted at the floor. "You never understand... only the bits and pieces."
He afterwards fell into a momentary recollection of the past, thinking about how sincere Uraraka was. His fists tightly clenched, opposed to the thought of their embrace. "She was trying manipulate me, [Y/N]. And she could've possibly ... turned the tables. I just.. couldn't let that happen."
