You heard Midoriya's muttering outside of the room, and you figured it was one of his episodes. Your hands trembled ever so slightly, concerned if he's finally reached the brink.
You never knew when he was going to kill you, and that repetead thought has always kept you from sleeping.
With a heavy sigh, you lowered your spoon and placed it against the tray. It wasn't wise to keep Midoriya away for too long, or else he'd probably get persistent and hostile. The muttering in the hallways had eventually grew quiet, you weren't complaining though.
The door slowly began to part ways from it's hinges as someone you expected peered through the small opening. His sad green eyes made you feel slight guilt, but you quickly pushed your emotions out of the way and gestured for the boy to take the tray. "I'm done. You can come in and take it."
You watched Midoriya enter, being timid and unsure on how he should act. But, he's never hesitated to help you. He held the tray on each side of it's edges and carefully lifted it, cautious and steady.
"...So are you still ... mad at me?"
Midoriya asked. You diverted your gaze hesitantly and bit down on your tongue. The decision you made would've taken a turn for the worst, and so you shook your head with a light smile. "No, I'm over it now." You spoke, filling Midoriya with so much relief and eagerness that he had almost allowed the tray to slip from his grasp. "R-Really?! You're... not angry anymore?" His heart pounded and sweat rolled down his red cheeks, flumoxxed by your sudden change of heart.
"...Let's not hold out on the past, yeah?" You jingled the chains restraining your left ankle, taking his happiness and using it to your advantage. It was wrong for you to do that, but you needed to do everything you could to survive.
Survival is the only thing that weighed heavily on your mind.
"Oh... You want me to..-" Midoriya then turned away, his attention relocating as he had pondered about it more thoroughly. After thinking about it for a while longer, Midoriya shook his head with a guilty crown- I mean, frown.
"I'm sorry [Y/N]. But I can't do that, as much as I want you moving freely, there's still some things you need to learn. You're a stubborn girl..." His glance made your attempt as broad as day, and the thought of him realizing you were using him never ceased to strike fear within you.
You quickly reached to pull on the elbow of his sleeve. As pitiful as you looked, disperacy was the only thing keeping you composed and sane. Not even your pride could intervene. "Don't do this to me... you know that this- ... this hurts!"
The boy pursed his lips.
"You're really going to keep the girl you love captive in this very room? How many days? Weeks? Months ... Years?" Your body slouched as genuine dejection fell over you. As your gaze remained diverted, Midoriya clenched his teeth as he debated with his thoughts. He felt extremely guilty, to the point he could've badly harmed himself.
He then left the room with an upset grunt, causing you to peer up towards the empty hallway. Dishes clanked, and water ran. In a complete loss of energy, you collapsed against the mattress once more, and sniffled as quietly as you could.
"I shouldn't ... have gotten my hopes up..." You whispered breathlessly, glaring towards the ceiling in dissatisfaction. As you were about to drift away from reality, you heard steps coming from down the hallway. It inevitably reached your room, and to the foot of your bed.
The boy stared at you for a second, before crouching down near your shackled leg. "Izuku?" You called, expecting a glare or some sort of cruel remark. However the boy simply looked up at you with a faint smile, as he unlocked the shackles. "Sorry, I... won't do that again..." He brought the chains closer to his body, his head narrowing. "I just ... can't help going out of my way for you..." His demented emerald eyes flicked away. "Anyways. Your limbs must be sore... Should I fix you up?"
