One Look

The First Date

Betty and Veronica's plan was very simple. Go to Pop's right after tryouts ended. They would sit in a booth far enough from Cheryl's normal booth, but close enough that they could still see her. When they got there, they found the perfect booth, and sat down.

"I still feel really guilty about this, V. I mean she's my best friend, and we're cousins. I don't think we can do this. I'm sorry but I have to go."

Betty left quickly, and soon enough, Veronica spotted Cheryl walking through the door with, Toni?

"What the hell Cheryl? Toni, that serpent girl?"

Veronica questioned quietly to herself. She then saw something she'd never expect.

Toni and Cheryl holding hands across the table while they waited for their food. They sat their deep in their conversation, when their food came.

"I'm having a really great time TT. You know, this is my first date, with a girl." Cheryl said.

"Don't worry Cher. On my first date with a girl, I got so nervous that I literally left in the middle of it." Toni laughed.

"Well once we finish, do you want to head back to my place? My mother isn't going to be home for a while. She left yesterday, and she's usually gone for at least a week."

"Sure, Blossom. I do have a question for you though."

"Ask me anything TT."
"I know this is only our first date, but I really like you Cheryl. Ever since I first saw you at your party, I just knew we would be together. So, Cheryl Blossom, would you like to be my girlfriend?"

Toni sounded nervous, but everything she said was the honest truth.

"Toni, I never really thought someone could ever love me. The only person to ever show me love was JJ, but he's gone now. And I really like you too TT."

"So is that a yes?"

"Of course! Come on, let's get out of here."

They both stood up from the booth, and kissed on their way out. Veronica sat in that back booth. She felt happy for Cheryl that she was finally happy with someone, but also hurt, that she hadn't even mentioned her liking girls. So she left Pop's, on a mission to tell Betty everything that happened.

Cheryl and Toni rode back to Cheryl's house on Toni's motorcycle, Cheryl holding on tightly to Toni's waist. When they arrived, they walked in holding hands, only to meet Cheryl's mother on their way in.

"Mother, what are you doing back here so early?"

"It's none of your business, child. Who's this new friend you've brought here with you?"

Toni cut in on their conversation.

"I'm Toni Topaz, Cheryl's friend from school."

"Well hello Toni. Now I'm kindly going to ask you to leave, so my daughter and I can have a little conversation."

"Of course, Mrs. Blossom. See you later Cheryl."

"Bye Toni."

As soon as Toni left, Penelope closed the door and grabbed Cheryl's wrist, pulling her into the living room.

"Back to your deviant behavior, I see."

"Mother what are you talking about? She's just a friend from school."

Penelope knew well enough to see through her lies. She knew there was something more going on.

"Come on child, we're going for a little drive. Maybe after this, you'll finally learn your lesson."

Penelope grabbed her wrist again, this time dragging her to the car. She started driving, and Cheryl had absolutely no idea where she was being taken. As they kept driving, the area started to get more and more secluded, getting deeper into the woods. She started seeing signs for a place called "The Sisters of Quiet Mercy" and she got a horrible feeling. She knew that was the place Polly, Betty's sister got sent to, when her parents found out she was pregnant. She knew this horrible woman was taking her there, and she didn't know how long, but all she could think about was Toni.

Meanwhile, Veronica was on her way to Betty's house. She knocked on the door, and her mother Alice answered. Betty was up in her room, but she could hear that Jughead had gotten there first, so she just left. She was just going to call her later. So instead she went down to the Whyte Wyrm to hang out with Sweet Pea. When she got there, he was in the middle of an intense game of pool with Fangs.

"Hey babe." She went over and kissed him.

"Hey V. Thanks for coming, but can you give me like 10 more minutes to destroy Fangs in pool?"

"Whatever you say." She kissed him on the cheek, and headed over to an empty table and sat down. A few minutes later, Toni walked in, and sat down next to her.

"Hey Veronica, I know we don't know each other that well, but I do know that you're really close with Cheryl, and I saw you at Pop's earlier."

Veronica felt guilty that she saw her. She liked Toni, and didn't want to make things weird with them.

"Listen Toni. I'm really sorry, it's just that Cheryl said she had a date, but wouldn't tell me. Which is kind of weird, but that's beside the point. I just wanted to see if it was Reggie Mantle, he's been crushing on her for years. But it turns out, it was you which is a lot better. I'm just really sorry."

"It's totally fine, but Cheryl isn't really ready to come out to anyone yet, so if you didn't tell anyone that would be great."

"Of course not. I could never do that to my best friend. Thanks so much for understanding. By the way, you definitely made the River Vixens."

"Thanks Veronica. I'll see you at school."

"Bye Toni."

Veronica went to say goodbye to Sweet Pea, who had already started a new game of pool with Fangs.

"Bye babe. Can you come over later, at like 9:00? You know which window."
"Definitely."

Sweet Pea kissed her, and she left. She thought to herself, "Maybe I shouldn't tell Betty. She would understand."
