Vacation

It had been a week since graduation, and since Cheryl and Toni's engagement. That first week of vacation had been hectic.

Betty, Cheryl, Toni, and Josie had started planning Veronica's baby shower, as her due date was in September.

Cheryl and Toni had also started planning their own wedding, but those plans were put on hold for the time being.

They announced their engagement when everyone was sober, the day after graduation. It had completely shocked everyone, as Cheryl had concealed it pretty well.

A few weeks later, it was time for Veronica's baby shower. It was at The Pembrooke, because Veronica's father was out of town.

It was Betty's job to take her out in the morning to get breakfast at Pop's and bring her back to The Pembrooke to surprise her.

"Surprise!"

Veronica jumped as she entered the apartment. "Oh my God!"

The whole place had been transformed with gorgeous pink decorations, and pink colored cupcakes and other foods.

They had invited all of her close friends, and even her mom was there. She was finally ready to reconnect with her daughter.

Cheryl and Toni watched as a ecstatic Veronica opened her gifts, the adorable baby clothes, and some new toys.

"Cheryl, do you think we'll ever have this?"

"Have what TT?"

"Well, this. A baby shower, a family."

"Well, I guess so. I mean, I want kids. I want to give them the childhood I never had."

"Really?"

"Of course! If we ever had kids, I would give them the world."

"Me too Cheryl, I really want kids." Toni said, as they both smiled at each other.

The rest of the summer went by too fast. Toni and Cheryl went on a road trip across the country for a month.

They stayed in motels in small towns, they stayed in cabins deep in the woods, and fancy hotels in large cities.

When they got back in August, it was almost time to go to college.

One day, before school started, Betty and Jughead texted everyone to meet them at Pop's.

"I'm gonna get right to the point here, um, Jug and I are leaving tomorrow."

It was silent for a minute, as the smiles on everyone's faces disappeared.

"So Betty and I have decided, that today is going to be the best day in the history of days."

"Really hobo? How are you going to do that?" Cheryl said, rolling her eyes.

"Well Cher," Betty cut in. "We can finish breakfast, and then we were going to spend our day at Sweetwater River."

"That actually sounds fun B." Veronica said.

"Yeah, and then we can come back here and have dinner, and then go back and watch the fireworks from Sweetwater River, and maybe a midnight swim?"

"Yes girl! I'm so in!" Josie said, excitedly.

Jughead was actually right, that was the best day ever. Cheryl and Veronica spent the day tanning. Cheryl said she didn't want to get her hair wet.

Meanwhile, Toni, Betty, and Josie spent the day in the water, while Jughead and Archie were climbing the tall rocks and jumping off. Even getting Toni, Josie, and Betty to jump off too.

At the end of the day, they were all exhausted. They went to Pop's and devoured their food, and drank endless milkshakes.

They went back to Sweetwater River to watch the fireworks, and nobody wanted that day to end. They didn't want tomorrow to come, and they didn't want to say goodbye.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and they all woke up the next morning, and met Betty and Jughead at the airport.

"I'm gonna miss you guys so much." Veronica said, already crying.

"I'm gonna miss you too. Promise to call me every single day?" Betty, who was also crying, said.

"I promise. And I expect you to be here when your god daughter is born, okay?"

"Okay." Betty and Veronica hugged for a few minutes.

"Betty," Cheryl said. "I just might die without you here." She joked.

Betty let out a small laugh. "Cher, I'm gonna miss you and Toni so much."

"I'm gonna miss you too Betts." Toni said, wrapping Betty and Cheryl into a group hug.

"Archie, it's been a long ride. Just remember, you"ll always be my first crush." Betty joked.

"I'm gonna miss you Betty. I'm gonna miss being your neighbor, and talking to you from my window."

"Oh God, we have to go Jug." Betty said, crying even more now.

"Well guys, I guess we have to go." Jughead said, trying not to cry.

Betty and Jughead walked off together, and the group said goodbye.

The next few weeks went by, as Josie left the week after, and Cheryl and Toni had to leave a few days after that.

Veronica and Archie went to the airport with them, the same routine as the last time, lots of tears, and painful goodbyes.

As Cheryl and Toni boarded the plane, Cheryl asked,

"Are you ready TT?"

"Yeah. Let's go to college."
