"He escaped." He muttered.
"What? Who?" I asked. I was extremely confused.
"Sirius. Sirius escaped Azkaban."
————————————————————————
I stood still in shock. No one has ever escaped from Azkaban. It was impossible, until now. How? I ask myself. He could be anywhere right now. He could be outside the door. Fear consumed my mind.
"W-when?" I stuttered.
"Just last week. It says that he's trying to find Harry. That he wants to kill Harry." Remus said under his breath.
Not only was I scared for my life now, but also Harry's. He's so young! He shouldn't have to deal with this. I decided that I would do anything in my power to keep Harry safe. That's when I thought about what Harry might think. Is he even going to talk to me? I thought. Probably not. I mean, my father is looking to kill him.
Remus slowly set the paper down on the coffee table, rose from the couch, then looked me dead in the eye with both hands on my shoulders.
"You aren't allowed out of this apartment without me. I'll get the groceries from now on. You are going to stay at my side at all times, and when I'm not here, you're going to stay in your room with you wand at the ready, ok?" He said with anger and fear in his voice. I nodded my head, then he pulled me into a tight hug. I wrapped my arms around his torso as he rested his chin on top of my head. "I love you, and if I were to lose you, I don't know what I would do."
"I love you too." I responded.
—(Time skip brought to you by the owl that crashed into the window)—
Uncle Remus left for the night, so I did as I was told. I was curled up in my bed, clenching my wand so hard that it could snap in half. I jumped at the sound of my neighbors walking around above me. Every little sound caused me to become even more anxious than I already was.
I got up out of my bed and checked if my window was locked for the 15,000th time, then I climbed back into my sheets, wrapping them around my shaking body. My hands started to cramp with how tight I was holding my wand, but I didn't care. I could see my knuckles turning white.
I've been in my room for 5 hours and in that time, I grew hungry. I forgot to eat dinner since I was so scared. I debated on grabbing a small snack, thinking it was a bad idea, but knowing I needed to eat. After a few minutes, my stomach won over my brain and I shakily walked over to my door.
My shaky hand grasped the door knob and I hesitated. What if he's in the kitchen? What if Uncle Remus finds out I disobeyed and went out of my room? I thought. I quickly pushed those thoughts to the back of my head and slowly opened my door. The cramped hallway was dark, increasing my fear. I slowly walked over to where the light switch was and turned on the hall light. Luckily, no one was there. I didn't realize I was holding my breath until I realized I needed more air.
I slowly walked down the lit hallway. I looked into Uncle Remus's room, making sure no one was there, then continued into the kitchen. I quickly turned on the light, grabbed something from the cabinet without looking, turned off the light, bolted into the hallway, turned off that light, ran into my room, then slammed my door a little too hard.
I put my back to my door and slowly slid down, relieved that I was able to retrieve something to eat. I looked at what I got and it was a box of PANCAKE MIX. I knew I wasn't going to go back out there, so I dragged my body back to my bed, dropping the box of pancake mix on the ground, and curled up in my sheets. My stomach aches with hunger, but I ignored it.
I checked my clock and it read 3 AM. I rubbed my face and fell back. I wanted to sleep, but I was too scared to. I was too scared to even shut my eyes for more than a minute. All I remembered thinking about was my father before I fell asleep, wand in hand.
—(Time skip brought to you by the poor, forgotten box of Pancake Mix)—
I woke up to the sound of my door being opened. Fear rushed through my body, and before I knew it, I was pointing my wand at the door. I brought my wand down when I realized it was only Uncle Remus. He walked over to me and sat on my bed. He had a new scar on his arm.
"Did everything go ok last night?" I asked rubbing my back. I nodded sleepily.
"I didn't fall asleep til about 3:30." I said yawning.
"You didn't see or hear anything suspicious?" He asked.
"Nope." I answered.
"I have one more question for you." He said.
"Ask away." I said.
"Why is there a box of Pancake Mix on the floor?" He asked pointing at the yellow box.
"Oh yeah." I said giggling. I told him all about last night and he started to laugh.
"You were the scared, huh?" He said. I nodded. He hugged me from the side and I rested my head in his shoulder. "Well, we have to go get your school supplies today, so get ready Pup."
Pup was the nickname Uncle Remus gave me. I don't know why he gave it to me, but I like it. I think it's because he's a werewolf and I'm like his little Pup, but I'm not sure.
I stretched my arms, then hopped off my bed. I had a feeling today was going to be a good day. I could just tell.
