Finally, the weekend arrived. Fred, George and I decided to relax for the say since we pulled an all-nighter the previous night creating new concepts for pranks. All of our ideas were shit, but our commentary made the night enjoyable. I remembered Fred drenching George with orange juice from the kitchen, not only staining his clothes, but also creating a huge puddle around us that was absorbed by the rug. It didn't take too long to remove, but it did cause George to chase Fred around the commons. I laughed hysterically on the ground while they did so. It was hard to breath.
We all sprawled across the couch. Fred rested his head on the left arm of the couch, sitting rather upright from the waist down. George had his back resting on the right arm of the couch, his head tilted back, and his legs crossed in a knot. Me on the other hand was lying across the middle of the couch, my head resting on Fred's left thigh and my legs draped across George's knot. We all kept silent for almost thirty minutes until I broken the silence.
"We need to do something." I muttered. I felt Fred fall back into the cushions of the couch, causing me to open my eyes. His head was tilted back, embracing the comfort.
"But I'm so comfortable." Fred sighed in exhaustion. "Plus, I thought we agreed that we were going to relax today."
"We did, but we can still relax while we do something." I stated, shifting my legs slightly. Apparently, George must have fell asleep, and the movement of my legs must have woke him up because I felt his body flinch. George looked up at Fred and I, then shifted his gaze to the wall.
"Why don't we just sleep?" Fred groaned, rolling his head to the side.
"Because we shouldn't waste a perfectly good Saturday on sleep." I said sitting up from my position, resting my feet on the floor.
Fred glared at me with his droopy eyes. "Why did you have to move? You were warm."
"Because I'm hungry and I need food. I you really want me to. I can grab you guy a plate." I said. They both nodded at me eagerly causing me to giggle. "Alright, I'll be back in a few minutes."
"Hey Y/N?" George called.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Could you grab us each a blanket, too?" He asked. I rolled my eyes at their laziness, yet succumbed to their needs. I nodded my head reluctantly, causing them to praise me with thanks.
I trailed down to the Great Hall, my slippers clicking on the stone floor every step I make. I wasn't completely awake, but I was enough to know where I was going. The halls were mostly empty since breakfast had already started. It was pleasant to walk without chatter from other students and the constant teasing from Rossi and his minions.
As I made my trip, I thought about my nightmares. I didn't understand how I was having these type of horrid dreams. I couldn't recall anything I did to influence these thoughts, especially since I'm generally living life to the fullest twenty four seven. I could be what I read in the text books, but that would never explain the memories I saw. I saw when my mother died. When she died. There's no way I could have remembered that being only a few days old. Unless...
"Hey!" Someone shouted from behind me. I looked back to find Carter jogging toward me. I mimicked the smile on his face as he approached.
"Hi Carter." I said.
"How are you doing?" He asked.
"Grabbing some food and bringing it back up to my commons, you?"
He hesitated. "I was just going to get a book from the library." I stared at his facial expression. He looked at me eagerly; hopefully. Almost as if he expected a certain behavior from me. In his eyes, I sensed something unusual. Something I couldn't quite describe. The more I analyzed, the more awkward things became between us.
"Mind if I join you?" I asked. I hoped, since we hadn't have had much communication over the past week, that we could talk once more.
"Well, it will only take me a second, and then I have to meet my friends on the field." He responded. I tried not to expose the disappointment stinging my chest, infecting my whole body like a virus. The venom coursed through my veins as I kept my composure.
"That's alright. Maybe I can catch you another time, yeah?" That sounded too obvious, I thought.
"Yeah, of course." He lifted his watch to meet his gaze. "Well, I better be going or I'll be late."
"Bye." I whispered under my breath as I saw him run off into the hall. Once I've thought I've gained a friend, something always has to interfere. Every time. I sigh, then continue on my path to the Great Hall.
I shouldn't be disappointed. He's just a boy. A stupid boy that my mind happens to drift to in the darkest of night. A dumb-ass boy who makes me shutter at his voice. A boy who makes all my thoughts evaporate once he enters my line of vision. The boy who I just met a few weeks ago on accident. Realization hit me faster than a bludger to my head. Damn it. Fuck. Why me? Of anyone at this bloody school...
Why did I fall for Carter?
Hey guys! I know this chapter was shorter, and I know this goes against what this whole story is supposed to be about, but like I've said in the past, this is all part of a plan. A really weird, chaotic, probably no-good plan. Like I've said in the past, please just bare with me. I have a lot to go and this is only the beginning of my fanfiction. I'm debating on putting all the years in this book or making separate books for separate chapters, but I'll soon find out. I love all the support you give me, and thank you so much for reading! I hope to get another chapter in this weekend and I love you all so much! Bye!
