An owl flew gracefully through my open window, carrying a small letter neatly rolled up and tied with crimson tinted ribbon. The owl was owned by the school, on the older side, and seemed rather tired. It was odd behavior, but then I remembered the time of night this was delivered and shoved the thought to the back of my head. The owl gently released the letter, allowing it to fall atop my maroon comforter, then quietly landed on my dresser to the left of my bed.

My fingers caressed the scroll of parchment. It was very crinkly compared to the parchment I was familiar with. The ribbon was severely worn, dirty in some places. Odd, but not unusual. It could have been one of the twins since their letters seem to arrive very similarly, or maybe Carter, but I highly doubted that. Carter handles his belongings with care, off of what I have witnessed. I doubt he would have done this to his letter, let alone send me one only an hour after our talk in the library.

The curiosity took over my mind as I slowly slid the ragged ribbon off the letter, letting it unravel in the palm of my hand. The letter just barely exceeded the area of my palm, and the letter seemed very short.

My Office. 10 minutes.

Instantly I realized that the letter came from Uncle Remus. I didn't quite understand why he wanted to see me, let alone at this time of night, though I wasn't surprised he asked me to defy the rules and visit him especially since he did the same when he was my age and I do it quite frequently.

Without a second thought, I rose from my bed, threw on appropriate robes, and left my room. I gently allowed my feet to rest on the stone steps as I made my way towards the common room. The stone was cold, forcing me to shiver with every step I dared to take. I immediately regretted choosing to travel barefoot through the school.

Entering the commons, I spotted a student passed out on the couch, parchment, and books piling atop of their limp body. The girl seemed young, possibly in her second year. She had warm golden hair pulled up into a loose bun and fair skin, freckles scattered across her small face. She wore a thin long sleeved shirt with jeans. Drool dripped from her full rosy lips, making them appear glossy, and falling onto her work in her lap creating a puddle of spit. As precious as her state was, the drool wasn't all that pleasant to look at. As much as I didn't want to encounter the spit, I couldn't have just left her sprawled across the couch when the temperature was possibly below freezing. I quietly crawled back up to my room, then returned with a blanket. I neatly collected her work, placing it in a neat pile on the coffee table nearest the couch, then unraveled the blanket onto the small girl. After doing so, I left through the portrait hole, leaving the young girl to rest.

Roaming the quiet corridors, I made sure to stay silent. The last thing I needed at this moment was to get caught. Weaving through secret passages I found with the twins, I spotted Rossi. He was in the corridor nearest mine acting strangely. He seemed worried, almost frightened, checking every direction frequently. It was almost like he was expecting someone. I already knew I was late, and even though my curiosity was increasing by the second, I knew I had to leave.

The only problem now was I didn't know how I was going to do that with Rossi, a Prefect, standing ten feet away from the entrance to Uncle Remus's classroom. Shit, I thought. I tried scanning for another way of reaching my endpoint but to no avail. There wasn't another way unless I decided to take the route that wraps around the whole entire school. I knew it would take me two hours tops to make it back here, and if Rossi caught me, it would have all been for nothing. I could have grabbed Harry's cloak, but it's too late to retrieve that now. I also could have carried my broom with me to fly above him, but yet again, it's all the way back in my room, and it would be useless to go back now. The last option I had besides running across and praying to Merlin I would make it was using some leftover goo from an old prank that happened to be only a few doors away. The goo was more like gum rather than the slimy runny texture goo usually had. It was perfect for climbing a wall with.
