Chapter Eight

I got my answer not even five minutes later as Dumbledore had to leave the classroom to go fetch some books from the staff's room. As the classroom erupted into loud chit chat I around nervously, meeting Aiden's mischievous eyes in the back of the room.

He leaned forward.

"Cover your hair." He mouthed, grinning devilishly as I took cover under the table. Ruth, obviously sensing trouble, joined me as Aiden jumped up on a table and all eyes turned on him. He made a great show of rolling up his sleeves and meeting the gaze every single student present

"Hello, dear classmates. Another year older. Another year at Hogwarts!" He called out over the class as he jumped over tables. Catcalls followed him as he took Professor Dumbledore's place at the front of the classroom by the podium. "This calls for celebration, doesn't it?"

More catcalls and nervous laughter echoed through the classroom. Aiden leaned against Dumbledore's podium, the sun hitting his chestnut hair as he met my gaze where I was hiding under the table. "Very well then."

"Welcome back to Hogwarts!" He exclaimed as the great chandeliers in the ceiling above suddenly transformed into several shower heads that uncontrollably started spewing out a lime green thick mush that stuck to anything it touched.

As chaos erupted Aiden watched it all like a proud father, grinning from ear to ear as the girls in the classroom covered their hair and screamed curses at him. Some people found it funny and howled with laughter as they threw mush at their classmates hiding underneath the table. Ruth cursed as one of the other Gryffindor boys managed to hit her. Aiden meanwhile hummed to himself as he watched the spectacle. A true agent of chaos he looked right in his element as shrieks filled the classroom. Only when every part of the room was covered in green mush did he raise his wand and stop the shower heads.

"I think we can safely say that the school year has officially started." He said, and bowed as the boys applauded him and a few girls cursed him loudly. Just as he was about to start his victory lap around the room the door, now covered in green mush opened and Dumbledore walked in.

He stopped at the threshold, watching the scene like he walked into classrooms filled with slime on the daily. He jumped over a puddle of mush and walked over to Aiden, squinting out at the green faces before turning to Aiden.

"First prank of the year, is it?" He asked and removed the mush from his desk and placed a pile of books on it.

"Yes, Professor." Aiden said with a bow.

"I see, I see." Dumbledore mumbled as he quickly threw a vanishing spell over the room. "Mind helping me hand out these books, Mr Johansson? Since you're already standing up here so kindly?" Dumbledore asked, still looking completely unbothered.

Aiden, who had expected some sort of punishment, shrugged and handed out the books, shooting me a grin as he passed me. Then, as he started walking back to his seat Dumbledore's voice echoed through the classroom once more.

"Oh, and I'll expect to see you in detention this evening, Mr Johansson. Shall we say... 7? Or should I schedule with your other teachers to make sure you aren't otherwise occupied with other detentions?" He asked, looking up at Aiden from over a book.

Aiden turned around, actually grinning. The boys catcalled. Aiden simply bowed, and even curtseyed to the others great delight.

"Hear that, class? I'm awarded with the term's first detention." He walked over to Dumbledore and shook his hand. "Thank you so much, Professor, this is a great honour." He turned to the class, ever the showman. "Firstly I would like to thank my mother for baking the most amazing cookies and then I want to thank my sister for always losing in quid-"
