I unlocked the door to the animal shelter and pushed my way in, immediately greeted by the sound of barking. " I know guys, I'm running late!" I called as I hurriedly put my things away and started feeding all of the animals. It was a relatively small shelter, with only about ten dogs but we had an over a abundance of cats. Nearly twenty in all since one of the females had had a litter.
Once I was done feeding everyone I finally flipped on the open sign. My day went like any other, slow and no one giving these guys a home. About an hour before closing I started to clean, humming to myself as i did. The bell above the door chimed, causing the dogs to bark. I turned to see a boy with spikey pink hair and deep dark eyes. I felt my face flush as I saw him, I couldn't help but notice how tan and muscular he was. I mentally slapped myself and shook my head. "Welcome to Magnolia Shelter. How can I help you?" I asked with a smile. He seemed to finally notice me and I thought I saw his face flush.
" Uh yeah I'm looking for a cat. First pet." He added with a grin. It was a gorgeous grin. I again mentally slapped myself. "Right this way." I said as I put my broom aside. I led him to the back where the cat cages were and let him see. He stopped by every one, petting each cat and kitten as he went. He got to one and stopped as the small kitten rolled on his back and wiggled as if saying Look at me! He was a deep gray that nearly looked blue, with a white belly and white toes. He mewed up at the boy and rubbed against the cage, begging to be loved. The boy smiled that amazing grin again and I flushed. " He's perfect! I'll take him."
I smiled and opened the cage before gently lifting the kitten. He quickly wiggled from my grasped and jumped at the boy, who quickly caught him. He barked a laugh, "Your just a happy, energetic little guy arnt you? I think I'll call you happy."He said and I giggle, making him blush. "What?" I shook my head. "It's the perfect name!" I said grinning. I took him to the front and had him fill out all the forms needed. Happy jumped from him onto the counter and ran at me. I giggled and picked him up. " You gonna miss me buddy?"
"Maybe," I blushed bright red as I looked up at the grinning pinkette. " E-excuse me?" He chuckled before smiling. " Wanna grab dinner with me?" I was pretty sure my face could but tomatoes to shame. " Uh well I." I stuttered, making him laugh more. " Come on, it'll be fun." I tried to get the red to go away as I smiled. " I would love to."
