She was used to having difficult people in her class, some claiming to have two left feet, some saying they couldn't hold rythem and others that were just plain clumsy. Today, however, Evergreen had one in her dance class that she just couldn't understand. The large man in front of her did not seem the dancing type, he towered over everyone in her class. He tripped over his large feet and his partners always got their feet stepped on but he was trying so hard.
"Tell me Elfman, why are you wanting to learn to dance so bad?" She asked in an exasperated tone at the end of the day, the two the only ones left in the dance studio. The large man sighed from his spot on the floor, running his hand through his spikey white hair. "My eldest sister is getting married, and I wanted to dance with her." The saddened look on his face reminded her of a puppy that had his favorite toy taken away. She couldn't help the small smile that graced her lips. "When's her wedding?" "A little less than a month away." She walked until she was directly in front of him. "Come on then, I'll give you one on one." She held her hand out to the big man and helped him up.
She started the soft ballroom music and they took their positions. His large hand almost completely encircled her tiny waist, and completely enveloped her slender hand. She beat the heat in her face as she laid her free hand on the man's chest, unable to reach his shoulder. "Ok Elman, the easy steps. Your going to take two steps forward, and one step back. Right foot first, and our legs should be touching. If you feel like your gonna step on my foot don't try to over correct. I will tell you what to fix." He nodded, gulping nervously at the beautiful woman.
He moved his right foot forward and she immediately figured out the problem. "This dance isn't going to work for you. Your stride is too long." She said ignoring the throbbing of her foot. "I'm going to lead and just follow me." He nodded and she immediately stepped to his roght, pulling him with her. He mirrored her, she took a short step backward, causing him to follow, and the small stride kept all her toes safe. The next step was to the left, turning slightly. As she continued to pull the large man around, they danced in the small imaginary square the steps provided.
Ever stared up at the large man who was smiling softly. At her perhaps? No, she was just teaching him to dance, he was just happy he could do it right. Before she knew it, they had pulled to a stop as the soundtrack stopped. Slowly the two parted and she smiled softly. "Now your sister has an excellent dance partner." She turned to the music player but was stopped by a large hand around her wrist.
"I lied." She looked at him confused his face a very unmanly red. "My sisters wedding was two weeks ago..." she frowned slightly. "They why are you still coming to my class?" She asked quietly. He grinned like a small boy and she felt her heart quicken. "Because of my beautiful teacher." It was Evers turn to go red in the face as the large man wrapped his arms around her. "I just couldn't get the nerve to talk to you..." He said quietly. Her face was redder now as she tried to scowl at him, but the boyish grin softened it and she smiled. "Idiot." She reached up, pulling his face down to hers and kissed him sweetly. As she pulled back she couldn't help but giggle at his stunned face. "I expect you to come back to every class then. And private classes too." She grinned before turning from the still stunned man, a grin slowly stretching across his face.
