{A very sad GaLe for @cheesycreamgurl sorry I changed it up a bit}

Gajeel P.O.V

I fell off the train with a groan as Lily stood by my head, chuckling. "Damn cat," I mumbled into the floor. As soon as my stomach stopped turning I jumped to my feet and headed for the guild. I stuck my hand in my jacket pocket, grinning as they touched the box in it. "You really think Levy will like it?" I looked at Lily. He rolled his eyes and grinned. "She'll love it."

I grinned again before wrinkling my nose, a burning smell hitting me. I sniffed and I could tell it was coming from the guild. "Seems like that idiot Salamander caught the place on fire again." I muttered as Lily chuckled. As the guild came into sight I frowned. The guild was a wreck, far worse than master ever would have allowed Natsu to get away with. It almost reminded me of when I was in Phantom, and it sent me sprinting ahead, Lily flying beside me. I pushed open what was left of the doors and found everyone beaten and bruised. "What the hell happened here?" I shouted. Some people began crying as they saw me. I walked up to Mira," What happened?"

Her eyes watered,"We got attacked yesterday afternoon by a dark guild... They caught us by surprise." she teared up again and I began to panic slightly as I looked around and didn't see the head of blue hair. "Mira where's Levy?" I looked at her and the tears were flowing down her face now. I gripped her shoulders. "Where is my wife?!" she didn't speak but pointed to the infirmary. I nearly ran, people stepping out of my way as I went. I opened the door and the first thing I was met with was a small head of black hair running and hugging my leg. "Daddy!" he sobbed.

I kneeled down and wrapped my arms around Rayos,"Wheres mommy?" I asked him quietly. He pointed to the other end of the infirmary as I picked him up. "Mommy..... Won't wake up...." he cried and my heart nearly stopped. I hurried over to where a curtain was drawn but stopped, I was afraid to see what lay behind it. I set my son down before pushing past the curtain and I froze. There lay Levy, pale and broken, dried blood in her hair and on her normally clean orange dress. A sobbing Wendy was sitting beside her bed. "Wendy...." I whispered, unable to take my eyes off of the small bluenette. "I was on a mission yesterday...." she sobbed. "I'm sorry Gajeel... She was... Gone before I got here..." she sobbed as I slowly stood beside the bed.

I reached a shakey hand out and grabbed Levys ice cold hand as I felt a lump form in my throat. I bit back the tears that threatened to fall. This can't be happening, two days ago she was smiling and laughing, chasing Rayos around the guild. I barely noticed as Wendy got up and left, taking my son with her as he cried. I slowly sank to my knees beside her bed, her hand still clutched in mine. "Levy..." I choked out, the tears finally falling down my face. I wasn't sure how long I sat there, crying and hiding her hand before a left a paw on my arm. I looked down to see a red eyed Lily. I reluctantly let go of Levys hand so I could hug the small exceed close.

"Come on Gajeel... Rayos needs you..." he whispered through new tears. I nodded, he was right, right now my son needed me more than anything. I stood up, wiping the tears from my eyes. I looked to Levy once more and bit back a new sob. I gently wrapped my arms around her, hugging her one last time. I kissed her cold lips one last time before turning away. I took a deep breath, steeling myself before going back into the main guild hall. Rayos wiggled out of Wendy's hold and ran to me. I picked him up, hugging him close as he cried. I walked back to Mira and had to clear my throat to get my voice to work. "How did it happen?" I asked quietly.

"We thought we had beaten them, they were all down. Rayos had ran out of the guild to get to Levy, but one of them still had some fight in him. He attacked Rayos, but Levy shielded him, taking the full force of the hit." she whispered, trying to stop her tears. Rayos gripped my shirt, "I'm sorry daddy... It's m-my fault..." he sobbed and I looked down at him. I set him on the counter so I could look into his red eyes. "Rayos, in no way is what happened to mommy your fault." I told him, my voice hitching slightly. "B-but..." I shook my head and held him tight. "It is not. She would not blame you and I sure as hell don't blame you." I told him firmly. He nodded a little as he cried into my shirt. I took him home and that night, I couldn't bring myself to sleep in the empty bed.

A few days later we had her funeral, I wasn't sure if the rain was natural or the sobbing Juvia. We stood under black umbrellas as the master spoke, talking about what a happy woman she was, how she was the brightest light in all of Fairy Tail. I held Rayos close, trying to be strong for him but I was so broken. The people around me were in tears, Lucy, Jet and Droy crying the hardest. As the funeral finally ended and people made there way back to the guild, I stayed with Rayos and Lily. Set my son down and handed him the umbrella to hold. I walked up to the headstone, an open book that had her name written on the stone pages. I pulled the long white box out of my suit pocket and opened it.

"I wanted to give this to you when I got back... I'm sorry Levy..." I whispered. I opened the box and pulled out the silver heart necklace, laying it carefully on the stone book. "I love you Levy..." I whispered. I sat for a moment, not caring about the rain. I stood, picking up Rayos. I looked over my shoulder one last time, I could have swore I saw her standing there, smiling sadly at me. I couldn't help the small smile that crossed my face. I took a deep breath before heading back to the guild, son in hand and Lily in tow. I would walk in to tomorrow and live for her.

{I literally just broke down writing this. I actually feel bad for making my little leaves cry}
