"Well, um. Peter Pan...may I ask why I am here?" I try to ask in the politest way. He seems sketchy.."Well you see, love. I'm wondering the same thing." His eyes then look behind me.
I slowly turn around, only to see the shadow. Staring at Peter.
"Why did you bring her here? You know girls don't belong in Neverland."
Right before the shadow speaks, I beat him to it.
"Don't belong here..? What do you mean?"
A million questions fill my head
"Girls aren't supposed to be here. Boy's only"
Peter quickly states."And why is that?" I ask with a bit of attitude.
He senses it
He takes a step closer to me and smiles
"You see, love. Never land isn't made for girls. It's too dangerous, you wouldn't last a Day."
I'm offended by his choice of words. What could be so bad about this place? It seems fine to me...
"Oh is that so? " I laugh
"What could be so bad about this place? Am I going to be attacked by mermaids?!" I sarcastically ask
He quietly laughs to himself, as if what I said was some kind of inside joke.
"You know what? You're right Mrs Wendy. I believe my ego has taken over me." He says with a smile.
I don't know how to feel..was that sarcasm, or is he serious? I can't tell.
He looks at the boys behind me.
"Alright boys, why don't you head along. Enjoy this beautiful day." Peter says
The boys look puzzled. It's like they didn't know if he was joking or not. Why were they so afraid of him? He doesn't seem that bad.
They do as he says and head into the forest doing as they wish. Leaving Peter and I alone.
He then reaches out his hand for me to take.
"Why?" I ask confused
"You're new here, it would be awfully rude of me not to show you around."
I hesitantly take his hand and we lift up into the air.
He takes me to what looks like a lagoon.
"Um, where are we?" I ask
He lets go of my hand and walks towards the water.
"This is mermaid lagoon." He says
My eyes widen.
"Wait, there are actually mermaids here?"
"Of course. Would you like to see one?" He asks
No way. Is this guy serious?
I slowly nod my head yes.
I kneel by him and look over the water.
I see my reflection, and the water begins to ripple. I then see a bright blue, scaly tail within the water. I gasp with amazement.
I look over to see Peter smiling, enjoying my inner trance.
"This is incredible!" I yell, but softly.
"Can I swim with them?" I ask with a bright smile.
"Um...I'm afraid that would be a bad idea.." he says unsurely.
