I told Kai to set me down and he did, he asked me who he was but I just shook my head and asked for privacy. Kai reluctantly left me in the hallway to go check if the boys were still asleep.
"Yes?" I asked as Mason looked me up and down for the injuries that the boys decided to talk about. "Can I see the damage?" He asked and I rolled my eyes. "Shouldn't you be with your mate?" I said sarcastically as I turned to leave. "You left, I had to do what I had to find you. I was running out of options, so I went home" he said as he grabbed my arm.
"I didn't want to leave and you knew exactly what you were getting into when you said we were going to try to make this work," I said as he hung his head. "Look at me" I growled at him. I heard people coming down the hallway, but he didn't look at me, he just hung his head and kept his head down.
"You can't even look at me now?" I said before I let out a deep breath. I turned around and looked to Kai, River, and Dalton. I turned back to Mason and he was still standing there. "Nothing?" I asked before I took a step back. "After 3 months you have nothing else to say?" I asked as I start to feel light headed. He opened his eyes as felt something running down from my nose. I touched my face then looked at my hand, blood.
"You need to go take your medicine," Dalton said as they approached. Dalton caught me as I stumbled, "kai carry her back" Dalton said. Kai scooped me back into his arms like a child. I kept facing forward, I didn't even look back.
By the time Kai set me back down on my bed and Dalton was at my side, I had made up my mind. "Kai can me and Dalton talk for a minute?" I asked and he nodded. He quickly looked me over before leaving the room. Dalton gave me my medicine as I put a tissue up my nose to try to stop the bleeding. "I shouldn't be Alpha. It's not every day you have a female alpha, that's drawing too much attention" I said and he nodded. "If I step down from Alpha, I'm going to give the position to you," I told him making his eyes go wide.
"Bailey..." he started but I put my hand up to stop him. "I trust you, and you can stay here with Maya. You don't have to keep moving, this can be your home" he shook his head. "I'm to be your brothers Beta," he told me but I shook my head, "he can find another, this is your chance," I said and he just nodded. "Thank you," He said after a few minutes.
"We should do it soon. Can you get the guys and the elders? The Alphas want a male Alpha, that's what they will get. I don't want the pack to suffer for my choices" I told him as he looked at me. He nodded before leaving the room to do as I said. When my brothers came back into the room I informed them, it was drawing too much attention.
"Where to next?" Thomas asked and I knew exactly where we were going. But that was something I would tell them later when it was time.
~~~~~~~~~~I looked like hell. Literal hell.
I kept my hair down to hide some of my face. I wore a long romper to hide the scars on my legs from the first attack. It hid my bandages fairly well, but my mark was showing. It was in plain view for all the alphas to see, for Mason to see.
Walking out into the back yard of the pack house I kept my head high. It was only the pack invited, but the alphas would be invited to the after party. They don't know what for. But we would be gone by then, possibly already on our way. I told Dalton gets the house, to be his home if Maya and he ever need to get away.
Everyone looked at me as I walked to the front. I took my place at the altar before looking to my pack, they knew me being alpha was only temporary. Once I gave my title I would lose the links, I would be back to being just a member of the Ash Eclipse pack.
Kai and Chris came to my side. They looked upset, and rightfully so. We had become like family, but they knew I had a past. My past would eventually explode if I didn't take care of it, it was for the best. After Kai's confession, we didn't say anything about it. He probably thinks I forgot, but I haven't. He deserves someone better, something I can't give him. His mate is going to be a lucky woman.
Dalton came out and we locked eyes. After this, our journey together would be over. After everything, we had gone through, our childhoods together. He was more than family, they all were. They were my pack, I was their alpha. But this is what's best. And if Dalton needed me to have his back, or the packs back I would.
Dalton made his way up to the altar as the elder started the ceremony. I spilled my blood then Dalton spilled his. They mixed the blood then put two handprints of the blood on his chest. I stepped back and watched as Dalton vowed to protect the pack, put them above his life. I felt the link be severed as the pack cheered for their new alpha. I looked to my brothers, they shook out like a sour thumb among the pack. We belonged to our pack.
Maya kissed her mate before she was dragged away by her friends. Dalton looked to me as the pack all headed off to the party. Kai, Chris and him all were looking at me. "You're going to do great," I told him as he pulled me into his arms. "You need me, you call me," I told him before looking to the guys. "Same goes for you two," I said as Kai pulled me into his arms. "You are not going to be far, just across the pack border," he said and I shook my head.
"I've been running for long my enough," I said as I looked to where my brothers waited for me. "We are already all packed, I'll come to visit soon," I said as I kissed their cheeks. Dalton Hugged me again before hugging My brothers. His best friend, his former would be Alpha. "I guess we are both going to be Alphas," Dalton said confusing Kai and Chris. "Alpha Dalton James and Alpha Cullen Lowell... maybe eventually an Alpha Thomas Lowell." Cullen said before Dalton looked at me, "Maybe even if you and Maxie patch things up, Luna..." Dalton started but I cut him off by threatening to cut off his hand. He laughed and hugged me again.
"Your fathers an Alpha? And you have an Alpha Mate?" Chris asked as Kai just looked at me. "Bailey has a mark and everything!" Tom teased me as he moved my hair. "We should get going!" I announced making Dalton and Cullen laugh. River and the Boys walked out of the house. "What about Alpha River Valkov!" Dalton said as I started walking away. "Don't get yourselves killed" I told them. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do" Cullen told Dalton.
We walked through the house. I left the guys to go find Maya. I walked into the party room to see the confused Alphas and the celebrating pack, the final had an Alpha and Luna. "Bailey!" Maya yelled when she saw me, she ran over to me as Mason's eyes found me. I pulled her into my arms as I tried to hold back tears, "don't let him do anything stupid" I said making her laugh. "Your like the sister I never had," she told me as she pulled away to look at me. "Heart sisters," I said as we crossed pinkies. "I'll see you soon," I told her before I looked over to Mason.
"You need backup, you have my number. Don't get killed or I will kill you. Be careful, your still recovering" she said as she hugged me again. My hair was moved from my shoulder as we pulled apart. I turned and started walking to the door.
I walked out of the room, then out of the house. I got into the car and started driving. I finally had to tell the boys where we were going. We were going home.
