I Did Lose You

Steve was cheating on reader with the new recruit of the team. Steve was selfish and didn't even appreciate the reader's sacrifices for him and kids. He was fooling around with the new teammate because reader can't physically have sex with him since she was still tired and sore because the birth of their third child. He did felt guilty and painful for cheating on reader but all that was right for him that time. It took him that one particular day to realize his mistake and reader's sacrifices, that was the day they got divorced. Steve was regretting for cheating on reader but unfortunately there is no more chance for him.

At Noah's (Steve and reader's first child) school

"Well Mr. Rogers and Miss. Y/n, your son Noah is not paying enough attention in class. He keep on staring down and being miserable everytime, he doesn't even wanna play or talk with any of his friends. Please do pay some attention on him he is just a kid who doesn't knows anything and all he need is parents attention and love. And we will let you both have a talk with him." The principle said to you and Steve. You and Steve looked at each other and nodded.

Conversation between Steve and Noah

"Dada, can i ask you something?" Noah asked Steve. Steve smiled and nodded.

"Why you and mama are not together in our house anymore? Why you're not coming back home every day like you used to do? Why you're not saying "I love you" to mama anymore? Why are not kissing mama's cheecks anymore? And most importantly why are you not being with us for the past 4 years dada?" Noah asked his dad wanting for an answer. Steve was shocked and his smile dropped immediately when Noah asked those questions. Tears were starting fell from his eyes but he just brush it off and gave a fake smile " we-we both are just little busy with works buddy, soon w-we will be together" Steve assured him that he and y/n will be together soon, which is not gonna happen but Steve hope it will :)

"Alright dada, I just miss seeing you both together so much and I'm so happie I'm gonna see you both together soon" Noah giggled at Steve without understanding that their parents are not together anymore. That poor little kid hope to see his parents live happily together like they used to do.

Steve smiled sadly "alright buddy but promise me that you will be a good boy and study well in class, will you buddy?" Steve asked while patting his son's head. Noah giggled and hugged Steve " I pomise(promise) dada, i will be a good boy. I will make you and mama poud (proud)". Steve smiled and kissed his son's cheeks.

Steve went and sat on the bench across Y/n " so did you talk to him steve?" Y/n asked Steve with a hopeful sign that their son is alright. "Yeah, he said that he will be a good boy after this and I'm sure he will be alright after this so no worries" steve smiled.

Y/n gave a relieved smile "well um how are you doing steve? It's been awhile" Y/n said while looking down.

Steve stares at y/n. Whenever he sees her, his mind always reminded him that beautiful memory, the day he saw y/n for the first time. It was the day he lost himself. All that became a beautiful memory for him to cherish.

"I-I'm good, how you doing y/n?" Steve smiled sadly at y/n. "I'm good Steve, getting better!" Y/n smiled at him.

"You look so- so different Steve" y/n said to him. Steve chuckle at her "I feel different." He says, rubbing his full facial hair. "It's hard to explain but..I guess I'm just trying to understand who I am now. You know, since I'm not Captain America anymore." Steve let's out a humorless laugh.

"It's funny...it took me losing everything to realize who I am." He let's out with a sigh.

"Hey, cut that crap out Steven, you didn't lose everything alright? You still have your friends Bucky and Tony who would literally follow you to the ends of the earth." You say with a small smile. "And the kids, they adore you Steve, whether you're Captain America or not they'll still love you no matter what." You gently poke his hard chest.

"But I did lose you y/n! I still have friends and everyone in my life but you? I wish I could go back, change everything and be happy with you Y/n." Steve said while looking deep into y/n.

Y/n gave him a sad smile and looked down "maybe we never meant to be together but just remember one thing steve, i will be there for you no matter what" y/n smiled at him and reassured him. Steve smiled sadly and looked down realizing his mistake.

"Oh shit" y/n said while looking down at her watch "Language" Steve jokes earning a chuckle from y/n.

"Sorry cap, I'm running out late for my work and see ya next time steve" take care" y/n gave a kiss on his cheeks.

Steve smiled and kissed y/n forehead. Both of them walked away with a big smile on their face for the first time. _____________________________________
