Taylor
Almost two weeks later, I've somehow managed to find an apartment in Nashville that I'm going to lease for the next year, and with the help of so many of my friends we've packed up everything at my parents house and it's now being loaded into the U-haul parked in our driveway. I boxed up the essentials I know I'm going to need for Violet in the next few days and loaded them into my car instead because that way I know 100% where somethings going to be when I need it.
It's been a long few days for us all, and I'm so grateful to every single one of them who helped me. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them. "Taylor, I think little miss wants her mommy." Ash appears in front of me carrying Violet and I smile as she sits opposite me, handing the baby over. "Hi you." I coo gently as she fusses in my arms, "are you hungry, baby? Hmm." I hold her with one hand as I struggle to lift my shirt with the other. "There we go." I laugh as I look down to her after helping her latch on, immediately suckling away as if her life depends on it.
"It's so weird seeing you like this, Tay. I mean, you're a natural mom, that's obvious to anyone, but you're still a baby yourself." Ash shakes her head and Liz and Kaitlin both agree with her as they sit by my side on the ground. "It's still weird for me too. Sometimes I wake up to her crying and I get so confused and I have to give myself a reality check and I'm like oh yea, I'm a mom now. Like I'm responsible for a whole other human being, and that's so weird to me." I look down at her little face as she eats, keeping my hand on her lower back as she lies in the crook of my arm. "But then she'll make a new sound or look at me with those gorgeous blue eyes and it all feels so right, and I can't imagine not being her mom. It feels unnatural to think of my life without her now, and I know I lost some things that I may never get back but she's worth it."
A small smile brushes my features as I watch my baby girl, her hand resting on my boob as she hungrily suckles away. "Your parents will come around. I know we keep saying that, but it's the truth. They'll see you're serious about making this work and they'll see how responsible you're being and they'll warm up to the idea. They can't freeze you out forever." I sigh as I pat Violet's small back, "I just wish they were here to see this. They never even held their granddaughter before leaving, it's like she doesn't exist to them." Liz reaches over and wraps an arm around my shoulder. "She exists to us, so we're your family from here on out." The women surrounding me all agree and I smile, "I don't know what I would do without you guys." The three of them share their affections and we all end up laughing about how cheesy this whole moment is.
"This looks cosy." I hear a familiar voice behind me as we sit in the afternoon sun, and I freeze in place as Liz, Kaitlin and Ash all look at me like they're seeing a ghost. "Emily?" I frown as I turn around, squinting in the sun, and much to my complete shock the blonde is standing there in the flesh. "Hi Taylor." She smiles and I feel my heart leap out of my chest. "What're you doing here?" My eyes are full of melancholy and I can feel guilt radiating off the the other three. "I heard that your parents were out of town and I never really got to say goodbye. Plus I heard about everything and I wanted to find out how you're doing." I look down at Violet who's now asleep, so I unlatch her and fix myself before handing her over to Ash again. "Can you burp her? I need a minute." She gives me a sympathetic smile and nods as Kaitlin stands up to help me off of the ground.
I mumble a thank you as she sits back down and I grab Emily by the hand and pull her inside the house, an act my parents definitely wouldn't agree with. "Taylor, what's going on? Why is all of your stuff in boxes?" She looks around at my empty room and I ask the guys to give us a minutes so they grab another couple of boxes and leave the room to give us some privacy. "I'm moving out. My parents didn't want me to keep the baby so they're on some power trip. They think that I'm going to give her up if I have to move out, but instead I found an apartment and we're moving there today. That's what all of this is." She sighs as she stares into my eyes and I avoid hers, looking around at the scarily empty room.
