"Saffie, wait up!" I heard behind me.

I'd recognise that voice anywhere. Aria. She was my best friend, my only friend really. At least the only one who knew absolutely everything about me, just like I did about her. We also hated pretty much every other girl we knew, so nobody could intervene our power duo.

Aria has long brunette hair, opposite to my shorter blonde hair. We were like yin and yan, at least that's what we said. She was pretty much always bubbly and could never say no to a drink at a party. She was always the last one to arrive and the last one to leave. Like me she didn't back down from a competition, but she'd had a secret crush on Dylan for the past few weeks and when she wanted something, she usually got it.

Dylan was in The Trio. The Trio were the hottest guys in the school, the top of the social elite. The Trio were different to the typical cliché of high school boys. I mean they were drop dead gorgeous, they had bodies of gods, they slept with lots of girls, but our trio were also smart, and nice and they were all in the football team.

The Trio were almost perfect. Almost.

I say this because The Trio consisted of Dylan, Jayden and then finally the one and only, Carter. Carter was the almost that brought that perfect down with his cocky attitude, but still he banded The Trio together. Carter was the one who slept with all the girls and he was also the one who happened to be quarterback. If he could be anymore cliché, you couldn't write it.

That's not to say there weren't other good-looking boys in our school, because to be honest our school was graced with some fine specimen of male testosterone. Except the other boys happened to be Noah, who's my brother and Hunter, who was Aria's. Then there was also Justin, who was sleazy. I even preferred Carter to Justin.

I turned to face Aria, as she slid up against my locker.

"Heard you got sent to the gorgeous Mark's office again," she laughed.

"We've been over this. You cannot, repeat cannot, shag our Principle," I laughed back.

She sighed, "you're no fun," half sulking. "Maybe I should get into trouble as much as you do, that way I can spend more time in his office," she added.

"Trust me, I wouldn't recommend it. He tried to bring up my dad today, which was great fun for me," I replied.

"How gross and unnecessary," she cringed with a disgusted voice.

I nodded in agreement and shut my locker as we began our walk to the cafeteria together.

"Hey, it's lunch time. Are you not meeting your hunky man?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows at me.

"Nah, I got rid of him," I said, shaking my head.

"What, why? I thought you said he was handsome and had good hands. You've been sleeping with him for weeks, almost every lunch time," Aria explained, as if I didn't know all the facts too.

It was true, Jake and I had been sleeping together for almost a month, but that was it. He'd pick me up when lunch started, and we would go back to his or mine or sometimes we didn't even make it into a house and just ended up doing it in the car. Granted, he was drop dead gorgeous and had muscles in places I didn't know muscles could be. And yes, in bed he was, well, wow. But it had to end, because he had decided he wanted more than a fling.

"He wanted to date me, so me being me I ended it, naturally," I explained, shrugging my shoulders. "They always ruin it by wanting to date me. I thought guys only wanted sex."

Aria rolled her eyes. "God forbid men want to date you Saffie," she laughed.

"You know my rules, Aria," I said. "Besides we both know it's not as if I actually sleep around."
