Rain Shall Fall

Chapter 7

After school Annie went into the theater, a room enough to accommodate more students than they already have. There were several students practicing their line, while others were discussing in a small group.

Annie went directly to Miss Zoe. "There you are! I've been waiting." She said with a smile. "Miss Leonhardt, I would need to know what are your skills in this area. Then I'll be able to decide which post you'll get. And Mr Hoover," She gestured for Bertholdt to come closer, who was behind Annie. "The same goes to you." Both of them nodded and Miss Zoe went back to talking with Mr Smith.

Annie was about to sit somewhere when Miss Zoe said,"And can you two please talk to that one over there? He'll evaluate you guys." She pointed at a boy with dark blond hair holding a clipboard and talking to several students. "He's the assistant director."

Annie and Bertholdt went up to him and the boy noticed them,"Annie, Bertholdt. I'm so glad you could come." Both Annie and Bertholdt exclaimed at the same time,"Moblit!?"

"Is it really a surprise to see a science nerd here?" Moblit made a gesture at the word nerd. "Besides, Miss Zoe trusts me very much." He handed them both a slip of paper,"Fill this in and come back to me. Then, I'll test you."

Annie shrugged and took it. She frowned at the questions but filled in anyway. She was done quickly. When she passed the slip back to Moblit he handed her a script,"Take this like an impromptu audition."

Annie read the paper.

You are to act out a scene, any type to your preference, based on a title. Your act must not be any shorter than 2 minutes and not longer than 5 minutes. Your title is Melancholic Princess.

Melancholic Princess? What kind of title is that? Annie thought. It was obvious from Bertholdt's face he thought the same.

Moblit led them onstage,"The others are still waiting for a role. So you can use the stage. And yes, that means everybody in this room can see you." Annie scowled and said under her breath,"Great." Moblit smiled,"You can start first, Annie."

Annie put down her bag and raised one of her hands as if asking,"Lost I was. Immortal as well. But who knew how to cure it? Forever I'm sad." Her ominous voice filled the room, all looked at her. But she ignored and continued,"None could see how sad I was. All thought I had no feelings. And no one came to save. None at all."

"But surely there was someone. For one fateful day a dear prince came, and was told of rumors but never was overwhelmed." Someone said from across the room. Everyone there looked, and stood there was Armin with a smirk.

Annie decided to play along,"How interesting. But of course the dear princess was in her tower, secluding herself save a young dragon. A dear friend but not a pet."

Armin replied,"But that prince still went on his horse to that tower, hoping to see the face of the princess."

Annie scowled but decided to use her story,"But hidden she was with a silver mask, because her dear friend who was a normal citizen had died in front of her eyes, so that none can see her tear stained face, though no one has entered that tower for years."

"But how could a tower hold a princess?" Armin asked,"Surely a person will have to talk. Or called insane by her people."

"She cared not what people thought. But by the foot of the tower two guards stand to hold others away, for the princess declared she had no intent to see anyone at all."

Armin smiled and walked towards the stage,"Do tell me. Are those two guards the one who had been with her from young?"

Annie faced him,"Why yes. And pray tell, was that prince someone new who had no knowing of that new place?"

Armin reached the stage and walked up,"True. Truly he knew nothing. But what he knew was that he wanted to see that face of the princess for so long she kept hidden. The one I want to see."

Both Annie and Armin looked at each other when someone clapped, followed by an applause.

Miss Zoe smiled,"Amazing. Maybe I know who should have the parts then."
