We spend hours of our night just talking.
Making jokes.
Laughing.
It's so refreshing.

Roman pulls a black jansport backpack from the bed of his truck and tosses a water to me.

"How did you know where I was tonight?" I ask as he climbs back in.
Just now remembering that it had happened.

He laughs and shakes his head, allowing his wavy brown hair to sway.

"I wasn't looking for you if that's what you're suggesting!"

I roll my eyes at him, not really believing it.

"I was meeting a group of friends for dinner, Kali. I did not spend the remainder of the day searching for you or anyone who knew of you, after you left me in the street, if that's what you think!"

I did do that, didn't I?
In my defense, I didn't think I'd ever run into him again.
I didn't think I'd be sitting in his truck on a mountain baring my soul.

"And you said you didn't have a phone!!" He laughs calling me out obviously a little hurt.

"I just got this one literally MINUTES before you got there!" i say holding the pink bag that Trisha gave me, in the air so he knows I'm being truthful.

Then he rolls his eyes at me, mockingly.

My mother always hated when I rolled my eyes, but little does she know, I picked it up from her.

"You miss home, don't you?" He asks.

It's too personal, and I'd rather not say, so I just nod and stare blankly ahead.

He leans over and traces his thumb across my cheek, studying my face in silence. The friction of his finger and my skin are enough to set my whole body on fire.
I could get use to that.

I turn my head toward him, and lean in.
I want this stranger to kiss me.

His fingers slide up my jaw toward my ear and rest on the back of my neck, thumb still caressing my cheek as he gently brings his face closer to mine.

I feel my whole body ignite, as I talk myself into keeping myself planted in my chair.

I would've been in his lap within a half second, if I didn't.

His lips are centimeters away and I can practically taste them. I feel my mouth water and I lick my lips. His hand slides from the back of my neck down to my collar bone and then back up, just feeling my skin, not knowing that he's setting it on fire underneath him.

His fingertips gliding across my skin sends a shiver through my body and goosebumps rise.

His eyes go to my lips, and my body shivers again. I want him.

But he removes his hand from me, and pulls away, seeming ashamed for doing what he just did.

I didn't mind.

"Are you cold?"

His eyes meet mine.
I can barely focus on his words because I'm still trying to collect myself.
I'm hoping he doesn't notice that I'm practically dying over here.
I laugh at what just happened and shake my head.

"No I'm okay."

But he reaches behind my seat and pulls a small fleece throw blanket and places it into my lap.

"Thank you." I mumble, and I open it up to bury myself under it.
Why did he pull away?
Our lips were so close.

"I'll have to take you on a proper date, Kali." He smiles at me, sensing my discomfort.
