"Michael, Liane here has something to tell - er, show you, I guess," Calum mumbles, lightly pushing her towards him.
"Is everything alright, babe?" He asks while flickering his gaze between Calum and the slightly trembling blonde.
"I - yeah," she mumbles. Calum clears his throat and she sighs, shaking her head. "No, not really."
"What's the matter?" He gently pulling her on her hand and bringing her to the couch.
"Calum, could you, uh ..."
"Oh, yeah, sorry," he sheepishly says before lightly kissing her head. ''It'll be fine." With that, he's out of the living room.
"What'll be fine? Are you breaking up with me? Well, not breaking up, but -"
"Michael, I'm not - it's not anything like that," she assures, gently running her hand through his hair a few times. "I need to show you something, and I'm not exactly sure how you'll take it."
"Are you pregnant?" He asks and she actually lets out a small giggle.
"No, I'm still a virgin," she promises.
"Oh, okay. What is it then?" She hesitantly reaches her left arm out to him, exposing the scars marking her arm. Michael takes her wrist, opening and closing his mouth as if he was going to say something for what seemed like forever to Liane.
"I - I'm sorry," she whispers once she notices his eyes watering. "Please, please don't hate me, Mikey. I love you." She tried to fight it, but tears started pouring out of her eyes in fear that he would think she was some sort of deranged freak.
"No, I don't hate you. You should know I would never hate you, no matter what," he finally speaks after silently staring at her marked wrist for a few more minutes. She can literally feel the most of the tension leave her body. "C'mere," he murmurs, tugging on the hand that was already in his hold and bringing her onto his lap. He gently wraps his arms around her, softly tracing designs on her arm. "I love you, baby, please stop doing this to yourself."
"I haven't done it in, like, four months. I promise," she mumbles into his neck.
"Why didn't you tell me? And why does Calum know?" He questions after they sat in silence for a few moments.
"I was scared that you would think I was an emo freak or something," she confesses quietly. "The cuts were bleeding, and he, uh, helped me fix them. That day we were both sitting in the bathroom."
"I feel horrible I haven't noticed." Liane removes her head from Michael's neck and observes his now tear-stained cheeks.
"Please don't cry," she whispers, wiping at his cheeks gently, "I've been covering them up so you wouldn't see them."
"You didn't have to hide them from me, just don't do it anymore, okay?" He whispers, finally meeting her eyes. She nods quickly.
"Of course, Mikey, I promise." He cracks a small smile and she cups his cheeks and presses her lips to his, instantly moving her lips against his and repositioning her body so that she was straddling his waist.
"Liane," Michael murmurs, gripping her hips lightly and pulling away from her.
"Yeah?" She looks at him expectantly while nibbling nervously on her lip, because he never calls her by her actual name unless something was wrong.
"I -" He stops, looking anywhere but Liane. "I want you to be my girlfriend," he finally manages to get out. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Really?" She asks, raising her eyebrows.
"That wasn't exactly the response I was expecting," he mumbles, once again avoiding eye contact.
"No, Mikey," she murmurs quickly, nudging the side of his face so he had to look at her. "I really want to be your girlfriend. Like, a lot, but I'm just confused because, you know," she shrugs, "you're hot, and I'm ... me." Michael's face falls and shakes his head.
"Babe, what the hell are you talking about? You're gorgeous, you're beautiful," he assures her quietly, gently stroking her cheek.
"Thank you," she whispers, lightly pecking his lips. "So, does this mean we're, like, boyfriend and girlfriend?" She questions awkwardly.
"Do you want to be boyfriend and girlfriend?" He chuckles, nudging his nose against hers.
"Kinda," she blushes lightly, holding back her laugh.
"You're so adorable," he laughs. "I guess we're together then."
