Fifth Month
I stared at the walls of the office, mapping out the areas for where the crib, changing table and rocking chair would be. I pictured the room in a pink color but not the pastel pink, the kind of a princess, because that's exactly what she would be. Our little princess.
When I had mapped everything out in my head I began taking everything in the room now, and moving it out of the way. The office chair was the first out, mostly because it was easiest. I rolled it out and put it in a corner of the living room, where I would be making a section for the office.
Next came the desk, in which I gave up moving after I successfully pulled my back out. I laid on the floor and tried to relax through the pain as my back gently made it's way back into place.
"Maybe we shouldn't be moving this furniture on our own baby." I spoke to my little girl as I rubbed my stomach. I was beginning to speak more and more to her as I was working throughout the day and if I was laying on the couch. We watched a lot of TV together seems how I only worked part time now since the accident.
I grabbed my phone to call in some help from anyone but realized it was midnight. I had began to make a habit out of staying up late and resting most of the morning seems how sleeping at all was hard to come by. Little miss was definitely a mover at night. She loved to sit on my bladder making it uncomfortable to stand or walk any distance without needing to use the bathroom. In many places I would receive sympathy looks from other moms and sometimes even older women and I just smiled back at them. As crazy as it sounded I enjoyed the discomfort because I knew that the little girl causing it all was my little girl and I would be seeing her soon.
"How about," I started as I rubbed my belly slowly while searching through my contacts. "Oh I wish Daddy was here. He could move this stuff all by himself, then we could just sit around and watch." I smiled as I rubbed up and down my belly when suddenly I felt a tap back. I rushed to the couch to sit down and I became all giddy inside.
"Well hello there little baby." I smiled as tears shed down my cheeks. I felt another small nudge from my stomach as I rested my hand there. "Oh!" I covered my mouth with my hand, trying to contain the happiness I felt.
"You're kicking me!" I shouted with joy. "I feel you baby girl." I smiled as tears dropped onto my shirt. I needed to tell someone.
The first person I called was Nick, assuming he wouldn't be able to pick up I was prepared for a voicemail when on the last ring he answered.
"Is everything okay? What's wrong? Is something wrong with Evangaline?" He asked frantically into the speaker.
"No no everything's--" I stopped. "Wait, what did you just say?" I asked, stunned for a moment. Liking the sound of the name, I asked him to repeat it.
"Oh well, I thought of the name when I was writing some down last night. It had a nice ring to it and it grew on me." He replied less worried into the phone.
"Hmm.." I mumbled back to myself. "Evangeline?" I whispered. "Evangeline Anderson." I smiled, loving the ring to the name.
"Baby I love it!" I somewhat yelled into the phone.
"You do?! That's great, that means you can come up with the middle name and I will love whatever you choose." He said and by the tone of his voice I could tell he was smiling.
"Evangeline Anderson." I spoke again into the phone speaker. I rubbed my belly and felt another nudge, almost as a reminder as to why I called. "Oh I called for some major news." I started.
"What is it?" He asked still excited about the name.
"Well, Evangeline and I were moving furniture around and--" I was interrupted.
"You were moving furniture! Baby doll you cannot do that by yourself, call Jesse and make him do it!"
"Oh Jesse! Good idea, I will. Anyway I was talking with her..well to her when I felt a kick! Honey, she kicked me!" I screamed into the phone.
"Oh babe! That is wonderful news!" But by the tone of his voice I could tell something was up.
"You already knew didn't you?" I asked as I heard him laugh.
"Honey, she kicked me so much the night I spent home that I needed to sleep on the couch." I gasped and my hand flew up to my mouth.
"Why didn't you tell me? I'm sorry." I chuckled as I rubbed my belly again. I shielded the speaker and talked to Evangeline.
"Daddy already knew, naughty girl. You kicked him." I laughed and brought the speaker back to me.
"So anyway, honey I would love to chat more but I can't, we are moving some troops and I need to go. I love you so much and miss you lots!" I smiled as he spoke his departures.
"I love you too hon. Miss you more!" I chuckled as he replied.
"Not possible." He then hung up the phone. I then drifted back to sleep as I realized the time was now early morning and dozed off on the couch.
