Can feels a myriad of emotions all at once: Joy because she's alive, fear because she's in a foreign country all by herself, but most of all, he feels anger. Anger at his so-called friends for conspiring to keep her location secret all these years and at Sanem for making these people keep her secret. The resentment extends to most people he knows: his family, her family, this agency, life in general. They all lied to him.

However, the person he is most angry at is himself. Can Divit, the pillar of truth, is the biggest hypocrite of them all. He swore he would never leave her and that her heart would always be safe with him, amongst other things. The pain and guilt he's carried all of these years will finally rise to the surface, and he knows that the repercussions will be astronomical. With the final promise he made to her in mind all those years ago, Can runs out of the conference room.

CeyCey finds him by the back staircase a few minutes later. He reminds him of a lion trying to break down its cage. In a way, he probably is trying to break free. Free from all the responsibilities thrust upon him. He doesn't know how Can deals with it, but if the years have taught him anything, Can Divit always prevails, especially when it comes to her. Gathering his courage, he approaches his friend and finally tells him what happened to her all those years ago.

"You weren't here. You didn't see the toll it took on her wellbeing. She was fighting a losing battle. She knew it. She wouldn't stop fighting."

Can knows how stubborn she could be. He doesn't expect anything less of her. It's one of the reasons why he fell in love with her. He can still remember her determined look when she told him she doesn't find him attractive. Even when they both knew she was lying through her perfect teeth, she went down swinging. No one was going to tell her otherwise.

"The amount of strength that woman has considering what she was fighting on all sides. She took on your mother, Emre, Aylin, Fabri, her family, even her neighbors. Even people here blamed her for getting Mr. Fabri involved. Everybody wanted to make her pay for falling in love with you, but she kept her head up. I think it was her way of proving to everyone that she was worth it. Until that situation with Polen..."

Polen.... Polen...

He knew that an unfortunate incident at an airport in Romania would get back to her. He was there to catch a flight to Cambodia, and she was there for a convention. An amateur photographer managed to take a grainy picture of them arriving separately. The situation spiraled from there. The press assumed they had gotten back together. To his surprise, it made the papers the next day.

Can remembers what Metin said to him as he gave him her letter. A verbal message Metin was to deliver along with it. Be happy. Two words. It took two words to break through his irrational anger. Two words that gave him her blessing. Two words that lit a fire in him again.

CeyCey can pinpoint the moment the anger faded from his demeanor and suggested they return to Osman and Metin. He expects some hesitation. There was none. He looks at his friend running back to the conference room with a purpose. He can't help notice the difference: his shoulders are a little straighter, he looks a little taller, his gait more confident. Gone was the lost man that occupied Can Divit's body these past few years. CeyCey smiles. The Can Divit they all know is back.

Two words. Two words always sparked something in him. Bad King... You're Mine... Be happy. As he listens to Osman's problem, the slow ember burning through him rages like wildfire as Osman spoke those two words.

"Sanem's missing."

Two fucking words.
