Strengthen Your Resolve

CeyCey doesn't know why, but he can't leave her. He spent the entire night outside her room sitting on the cold floor like a guard dog. From the moment they first met, he was drawn to Sanem. There was something about the girl that brought out the protective yet fun nature in CeyCey. As far as he's concerned, Sanem is his little sister.

It seems that years apart can't subdue that feeling. CeyCey can tell Sanem didn't sleep a wink. Poor girl. Yesterday was a big shock to her, and she's still gripping that envelope with all her might.

CeyCey knows what that envelope contains. He still can't believe that they're married. In hindsight, everything made sense: why Can refused to leave Istanbul to why her disappearance affected him.

"Come in, CeyCey."

"Sanemsie."

CeyCey can't help the tears spilling from his eyes. He hugs her tight. He missed her crazy but brilliant ideas, her laughter but most of all, CeyCey missed his best friend.

"Ayhan wanted me to give you a hug."

"Are you sure it was just Ayhan?"

He can't lie to her nor can he stop the smile gracing his face. And just like that, they were two peas in a pod again.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Can wakes up with renewed purpose. He watches the two little angels currently using his chest as a pillow. Orion's little fist is currently tangled in his Albatross necklace and Violet's hand is above his tattoo.

He knows nothing on Earth will keep him from getting what he wants, just as he knows that at this moment, his wife is strengthening her resolve. Especially now that her back is against the wall. He knows that they need to hash things out but no matter the path that lay before them, Can knows every move he will make is going to affect his children. He'd rather die than let them suffer. If Sanem thinks he will give up that easily, she's got another thing coming.

Sanem is grateful that CeyCey is around. His constant presence calms the raging thoughts in her head. He accompanies her to her physical therapy sessions. Her femur is healing quite nicely and she can feel herself getting stronger. Sanem knows her time at this place is coming to an end, especially now that the truth is out. She was only being kept here because she can't be released without familial supervision.

Sanem's not stupid. She is aware of the talk around the nurses' station. She knew the staff in here felt horrible for her. She also begins to notice the staff treating her differently since last night. Sanem knows it has something to do with her husband being Can Divit. And if she knows anything about her husband, he will not hesitate to make his feelings known to anyone. Her Albatross is not known for his patience nor tact. Amazingly, he didn't insist on taking her home last night.

"You broke his heart."

Sanem looks at her friend with confused eyes. CeyCey must be mistaken.

"He's been looking for you all this time."

Can would never. She can still picture his face and his voice the last time she saw him. This was a mistake... This was a mistake... If she keeps reminding herself of his words, maybe she'll believe it. Then everything will be okay.

Sanem can't afford to believe CeyCey. She needs to believe he doesn't love her anymore. She convinced herself of that every night since she left Istanbul, just like she convinced herself that he would get back together with Polen after she left. Can moving on with his ex is the justification she tells herself for not telling him about the twins.

"He refused to leave Istanbul in case you ever came back."

He would never do that. He left her once. Can will get bored. He's not meant to be in one spot for too long. He'll leave again. She knows it.

Everything in her head is telling her to justify her actions. It distracts her from the truth: she's still irrevocably in love with him. She always was and probably always will.

Her thoughts are interrupted by the doctor on duty.

"Mr. Divit called while you were in therapy. He's on his way to pick you up. I'm afraid he is insisting on you recuperating at home, and seeing as he is your closest family member, I have no choice but to comply with his request".

Well, fuck.
