Last chapter:

The weight of his body on the bed disappears and you hear soft footsteps getting further and further away before everything is silenced with the door closing.

You allow your body to go limp as more tears leave your eyes.

It's funny.

Being happy as you see him, only for everything to crumble down.

Why is everything like this? I don't remember it being like this, so why...?

___

Before you really realise it, your eyes close and you soon start falling asleep, the only busy thing being your thoughts.

Your dreams have never been lively. They've always felt like you're not supposed to be having them.

You would wake up and feel weird, each time. It baffles you at times, honestly. All you want is to figure out why.

You want to find out why your reality feels like a dream.

***
You wake up a few hours later, gray light shining through the window, accompanied by the pitter patter of raindrops hitting against the window. The smell of fresh rain meets your senses and you manage to finally open your eyes.

“Rain is just what I needed,” you mumble to yourself as you get out of the bed. “Now, whose roo— Oh, what's this?” You interrupt yourself while picking up a piece of paper.

Good morning, [Your Name].
By the time you wake up or read this, we won't be there; we all needed to go out for missions. We all thought that you might want to rest.
I made you some ramen before I left.
It's in a container in the fridge.
I'll see you in a few days. Take care.

—Itachi Uchiha.

“Oh... Itachi's room? At least it's neat. Well, of course it is, seeing as he's all about cleanliness.” After the little conversation with yourself, you leave the room and make your way to the bathroom.

Getting to the door, you turn the knob, but the door won't open. “What the hell?” Turning the knob again, you're met with the same result.

“Who's there?” A voice calls from inside, and you flinch back.

What the hell, Itachi? You said no one would be here.

“Hello?”

You recognise the voice, and clear your throat before responding. “Sayuri, what are you still doing here? You're supposed to be out on a mission.”

“[Your Name]!? You're awake at last!” She cries out and before you know it, the door swings open.

Next, you're pulled into a tight embrace and you stiffen up at the contact.

“I asked Pein if I could maybe skip out on this mission, and he said that I could,” she explains with a soft sigh.

You nod slowly. “Oh.”

“It's just that... I thought you might get lonely, you know?” Sayuri lets go of you, a small smile present.

“Mhm...” You force yourself to smile back, your legs moving you into the bathroom. You turn and close the door.

“Okay, well, I'll be in the kitchen.” Sayuri announces before turning on her heels, walking down the corridor to the kitchen.

You begin removing your clothes in order to quickly freshen up.

***
It's not even ten minutes, and you're out of the shower, dressed and busy drying your hair with a towel.

Hanging the towel back up, you push your hair back, out of your face.

You finish up by washing your face and brushing your teeth. With that done, you leave the bathroom and head for the kitchen.

As you get to the doorway of the kitchen, you see Sayuri standing by the counter as she makes two cups of tea. The only sound that can be heard is the soft humming from Sayuri, and the sound of the spoon stirring in the cups.

“Are you, uh... Hungry?” You ask, feeling a little awkward.

She finches in shock, having not known that you were there, but she turns around and smiles at you.

“No,” she replies, still smiling.

You raise an eyebrow before cautiously approaching where she is. “Okay.”

You don't know why, but you're getting a very weird vibe from the girl. You never felt like this around her before, so why now?

Sayuri turns and takes her cup, moving aside afterwards. You get the container out of the fridge before getting your cup of tea.

“Hey, [Your Name], are you okay?”

Hey, how are you all? I hope you're doing good. Uh, I just wanted to say that this story is really close to its end, and I have an idea of how it's going to end. The ending will answer all your questions. I'll do the double update for the last two updates, which will be next week.

Also, this chapter? Ha... I don't even know. It was five in the morning when I wrote it.

Take care!
