Chapter 16

Last chapter:

You don't know why, but you're getting a very weird vibe from the girl. You never felt like this around her before, so why now?

Sayuri turns and takes her cup, moving aside afterwards. You get the container out of the fridge before getting your cup of tea.

"Hey, [Your Name], are you okay?"

After spending almost the whole day with Sayuri yesterday, you will admit that you actually got a little closer to her. She isn't so bad after all, although you were quite skeptical about her before.

You huff and pull your cloak on, adjusting it ever so slightly while also trying to get rid of some of the wrinkles.

Walking to your bed, you pick up the straw hat and put it on, before crouching slightly to put your shoes on.

"[Your Name], are you done?"

You jump up at the sudden voice coming from your doorframe. Oh, Pein, damn you.

"No. Not yet." You give a quick reply, crouching again so you can put your other shoe on.

"I'll wait here until you are done." You hear Pein say as you stand back up.

Shaking your head, you grab your pouch and turn to the man with many piercings, "No need, I'm done now."

"All right," he nods, turning on his heel, "let's go."

Silence has been lingering between you and Pein since the both of you left the the base.

"So," you start, breaking the silence. "Where exactly are we headed? You didn't inform me..."

"The Hidden Leaf village. I want to capture the nine-tailed fox." Pein explains, taking a second to glance over at you, before looking ahead.

"Oh- But, wait! I heard that there's a lot of rogue ninjas." He just sighs at your words, and it's not hard to guess why.

Silence falls over you two again as you walk on, getting closer and closer to your destination; the Hidden Leaf.

The sound of rustling brings you to a stop as Pein looks around, searching for a source for the sounds.

Suddenly, there's two tall figures that come out from behind the trees.

That's when you see it. They're not rogue ninjas, but rather, ninjas of the Leaf. Stepping back, you hesitantly reach a hand into your pouch at the sight of their kunais.

The two ninjas step forward, eyeing you and Pein.

Not realising how close in range you are, Pein raises his hands, palms facing out.

"Almighty push!" Is what you hear before your feet are swept off the ground. You barely take note of your body getting flung back by the force, until the back of your head bangs against a tree.

You gasp and open your eyes, only to shut them because of the bright light shining down on you.

Slowly opening them again, you adjust to the brightness. Glancing around, you note that you seem to be in a hospital room, and it's confirmed when you see the heart monitor.

"What?" You ask aloud, carefully sitting yourself up.

Just then, the door opens and in comes a girl with pink hair that reaches her shoulders. Her eyes are glued to the clipboard in her hands but they immediately go wide when they look up, only to see you sitting up, wide awake.

Without any further reaction, she turns and darts out of the room, yelling, "Lady Tsunade, patient [Your Name] is awake! Lady Tsunade!"

You don't even wait long before someone barges into your room again, this time it being someone else. This person has blonde hair that is tied lowly on each side, going down below her shoulders. Her eyes are hazel and there's a small, purple diamond on the center of her forehead.

The woman rushes to your side, checking the monitor before staring at you again. "How are you feeling?" She asks just as someone else comes in.

Peeking around, you see the pink-haired girl again.

Sitting in your original position, you stay quiet for a moment. "I'm... Fine?" You manage out, but more as a question than a statement.

"Why do sound so unsure?" The lady whom you assume is 'Lady Tsunade', asks.

"Well," you look down. "I don't even know what happened. I suddenly wake up and I'm here... I... I don't get it..."

The woman sighs and pulls a chair closer, taking a seat.

"[Your Name], you- how do I put it? You were in a coma for two years due to severe damage to your brain. A medical ninja found you somewhere near and he brought you in. You had on only a black shirt and black shorts."

You shake your head. "What? You're lying, aren't you?"

"No." She says firmly, standing up.

"Sakura, please bring her some food and some water. Also, [Your Name], get rest after your meal." With that, Tsunade leaves.

The girl, 'Sakura', looks at you sympathetically before heading out as well, closing the door behind her.

Thank you, Pein. It seems that you are probably the reason I'm still breathing. I really do thank you, and I hope you and everyone else is doing well. Remember that I love you. Always.

Yo! So, um, this is the end of the story. The next chapter will just contain a little note from me, and an explanation on the story.
