Last chapter:
“Come here, little one. I have so much use for you and you will soon be strong.” You walk over to him and you're soon in his arms, in his embrace.
The door opens then closes.
“Orochimaru, is she the girl Kabuto mentioned?”
The voice belongs to Sasuke Uchiha.
___
Your body tenses up in Orochimaru's arms and you instinctively clutch onto his robe, hoping to feel a little more secure. Surprisingly, it does work, until he gently pries you off of him that is.
“Don't be shy, little one.” You feel as Orochimaru runs his fingers through your hair in a soothing way. “Introduce yourself.” Hearing this, you know that you can't disobey or say 'no'. You take a deep breath and slowly turn yourself around. You're met with dark eyes, not far away from you. Frightened by the close proximity, you step back, bumping into Orochimaru in the process. “L-Lord Orochimaru, I'm sorry.” You blurt out as you quickly straighten yourself out.
“Don't fret, child.” You hear Orochimaru say from behind you. With that, you look up and meet the Uchiha's sharp gaze – which seems to almost pierce holes into you.
There seems to be a thick tension lingering in the air and it just feels to get thicker as Sasuke steps closer, towering over you. In comparison with height, the young Uchiha is only a head taller than you. Despite that, he's still frightening. Definitely deadly.
The fact that Sasuke is now eyeing you from head to toe does not help one bit, and you squirm under his gaze. Seeing as he won't stop, you swallow hard and lock eyes with him for just a few seconds, before breaking it.
“Stop staring at me... Please...” You mumble, finding interest in the floor on which you stand.
“Why?” He questions, an eyebrow raised.
“You're— It-It's making me uncomfortable, and I don't like people looking— staring at me for too long.” You reply, shifting and applying your weight onto your right leg.
Sasuke scoffs. “Pathetic.”
There it is; the truth. One of the things that you find unbearable. In a weak attempt to push it aside, you laugh. The laugh comes out soft, almost too soft.
“I'm pathetic? Me? Me?” You chuckle and push some loose strands of hair back. “No.”
“No,” you repeat, looking up.
It feels as though a fire had just sparked up inside of you. The boost of confidence. As if you could take on Pein, like you could just have a go at him. Like you could fight him. Why do you only feel this way now? Is it because the person who called you 'pathetic' is an Uchiha? Perhaps. But you doubt that is the reason.
All you can do right now, is cherish the feeling of adrenaline pumping through your veins, and oh, how you love it.
Locking eyes with Sasuke again, it looks like his eyes go even darker, if that's even impossible.
Without breaking eye contact, he speaks up, “Lord Orochimaru, could you give us a moment of privacy.” It comes out more as a statement, rather than a question.
“Of course. I need to discuss some things with Kabuto,” Orochimaru says, walking around you before heading to the door. No longer than a minute later, the tall, snake-like man is gone and the door is closed, leaving you and Sasuke alone.
“Why are you here?” He asks, stepping back to give you space.
Going over to the bed, you sit down. “I was brought here by Orochimaru.”
