I looked out the window of the aircraft, seeing nothing but darkness. I was on a private plane courtesy of Shen Yue and I's good friend Kido.
I've known Kido since Super Idol days and Shen Yue has known him since The Inn 2, where we all were part of the show together. Funny how they were both variety shows. After a couple of years since The Inn, Kido bought a small private plane business, catering to celebrities seeking for privacy as they flew all over China and the world. With so many fans waiting at the airports, may it be arrivals or departures, it was hard to travel secretly. Shen Yue and I, including Wuyi ge, were supportive of his business, and most often use the private charter to travel covertly when we try to meet up.
I recalled Kido and I's conversation hours earlier.
As I sped through the familiar road, I called another person. As soon as he picked up,
"I need a favour."
Kido responded right away, "Anything bro! What do you need?"
I heaved a sigh, "I need to get on a plane," I looked at the clock on the dashboard, "in a few minutes if possible."
"Buddy, I love you and all, but that's impossible."
"Please, man, it's Shen Yue," I all but begged, my perturbed tone of voice catching his attention.
"What? What happened?" He demanded right away and I could hear a chair screech in the background, almost like he hastily stood up.
"She's gone man."
"What? She couldn't be-"
"No! God no! Not like that. I meant that she's missing."
"Missing?"
"Well, more like she ran away."
"Ran away?" Kido sounded like a broken record, repeating the last words I spoke.
"Yes. But I don't think she needs to be alone right now."
"Are you sure? Shouldn't you give her some space or something?"
I chuckle darkly, "Not likely. If she didn't want me coming, she wouldn't have left behind a clue on where to find her."
"Okay man, I trust you."
"Thanks. Now about that favour?"
I hear him hum, "One second."
One second felt like an eternity waiting for his answer. I know Kido would do anything for his friends, so it's not like I'm worried about him not helping me. I was more worried on whenI could get on a plane.
"Ah, here we are. I got one plane empty of an agenda. But that won't till 2 hours later."
I cursed, not close enough, but what choice do I have?
"Okay man, I'll take it."
"Head on over the usual hangar. You can wait there. I'm sorry I can't meet you there man. I'm not even in the city."
"It's no problem. I owe you one."
"I disagree. Just be safe and find Yue. Both of you, be safe."
Then the call ended.
2 and a half hours later, I'm on the plane, hoping and praying to anyone above that my gut was right. That she was there. Otherwise, I don't know where else to find her.
Before I left her condo, I was perusing her work table by the window in her room. There was something else added to the cork board that wasn't there before. I know since I was there a few days earlier and when I left it wasn't there yet. It was a polaroid photo.
