At the check-in point for province five, I kept a low profile. All I had to do was get through the check-in before the other guy and without arousing suspicion. I'd taken my winter jacket off and draped it through the handles of my bag, covering the section that had my surname sprawled over it. My usual shirt was stuffed in my bag, I was now wearing the one that I'd borrowed from the guy named Crawley.

As I made my way closer to the check-in desk, I read through the transfer papers, memorized everything that I could. I'd never encountered a clerk that cared enough to ask the questions but it would be my luck that I'd strike one today.

Casually, I glanced back at the real Crawley. He was laughing it up with his new found friends in the food court, enjoying the magazines he'd pilfered. I smirked and turned back to the line.

"Next." The woman shouted.

I walked up and handed the piece of paper over.

"Where's the other one?"

I shrugged nonchalantly.

"It was all that I was given."

She huffed, rolling her eyes. Slamming a metal stamp on it, she passed it back and flicked her head.

"Get going. Next transport is leaving in five."

"Great, thanks."

I gritted a smile and pushed through the metal turnstile. Stuffing the transfer paper into my pocket, I pushed against the cold bar and smiled. When I was through, I looked back at the real Crawley. He'd make it through provided that he went to a different officer or if she wasn't paying attention. If he didn't then I'm sure he'd have other papers to identify himself. As for me, I was on my way to the outside world.

Scanning the area, I knew that walking outside the doors was not always easy or allowed. The only thing that I could do was let a fake addiction rule my body. Walking up to one of the door guards, I tipped my head.

"Hey, got a smoke?"

"Can't smoke in here." He grumped.

"Man, I'm dying here. Are you sure you don't have one?"

"Go and buy your own, cheapskate."

"Uh, okay. Where would that be?"

He rolled his eyes, pushing open the door to the outside world and to freedom.

"End of the road. Get it done before you return, no smoking allowed on government property."

"Sure, sure."

I wandered out of the army depot and down the street. As I turned to the store, I could see that I was being watched. Thankfully, the shop had a second door which was on the other side.

"Hey, have you got a cash machine in here?"

"Nah man, end of the road."

"Thanks."

I knew that there was no cash machine in the shop, I knew that there was a cash machine on the side street. That's why I'd asked for it and not something else. Passing through the shop was frowned upon so making it seem like I wanted to be in there was ideal.

Walking out of the shop, I waited until I was out of the clerk's sight and then hailed a cab. Time was running out, it was already one am and I had to get at least one little lead on Nisha before I went to sleep. It would be an easier rest if I knew that I was on the path to finding her.

The vehicle sloshed through the puddle, stopping beside me.

"Where to buddy?"

"The motel on Jupiter Drive," I said, sliding along the back seat.
